Oh but come on, quickscoping is the one of the best ways to make people mad.

Now that just sounds like a reason to get rid of it.
Tho I guess the new acrobatics got that covered anyway according to what's being said in the article. Sniping in Titanfall certainly wasn't very effective most of the time.
Sniping was the only thing that took skill tbh. Especially when you were the only one with it. Now its going to be hindered? Good luck ever seeing someone use a sniper ever again.
Quickscopers can be beaten easy as piss by having decent positioning
or any other weapon than a sniper or shotgun

Anyone with more than half an hour's experience with Quake will tell you that jumping is the best way to get yourself killed vs. people using the railgun, even with a fast air speed your movements are predictable as anything. Taking a sniper rifle against a jetpacker in Halo: Reach essentially scored you a free kill, even though you have to land two bodyshots to kill. Same goes for Tribes: Ascend, any Sentinel with good timing could harass and eventually take down even heavy classes across the map. Not saying CoD uses identical mechanics to these games, but hell, even using a gamepad anyone could murder jumpers in the blink of an eye. CoD's snipers have been infamous for delivering one-hit kills provided you hit the torso, even through an arm from the side, and I don't suspect this game will change too much without the threat of sniper rifles being useless, so yeah.
The damage model is the same, they are just changing how quickly the scope comes into view.
A previous game (Black Ops 1 or 2, can't forget) implemented a similar change before then IW reversed it in MW3 and Ghosts.
Sniper rifles are one of the worst things to happen to FPS games, they don't really make a lot of sense in the gameplay context. In a style of game that's mainly about movement in a 3D space, and the spacial relationship of two combatants, it seems odd to just strip that away completely for one weapon.
It's like if you were playing something like Portal, and if you can't solve a puzzle, it would just give you the option to solve an algebra problem instead in order to advance.

Both did, and I don't know about you but I barely see any quickscopers whenever I play Ghosts on PC. I'm assuming it's different on consoles, though.

You mean like how every FPS has shotguns that are designed to wreck at close range and are ultimately defeated by players who know how to position themselves to keep distance from said shotguns?
Faster reflexes > Shotguns > Snipers > Midrange SMG/AR > Shotguns > Snipers, etc.

put it all on red, it's the circle of life

But shotguns fit perfectly into the mold of FPS. It still requires you and your enemy to maneuver well.

An FPS is literally just a shooter in the first-person. Nowhere does that mean that you have to maneuver. Sure, in Quake and UT movement is core, but in CoD and Battlefield it isn't really.

1.) Not really, I do this shit all the time in CS and nobody gives a fuck
2.) That's a good reason to get the fuck rid of it. Games are for fun.

Which is why CoD is generally regarded as a weak FPS. It might be their "style", but it doesn't really work for them, might as well make a top down 2D shooter. Battlefield works because of vehicles that reintroduce movement into the large playing fields.
So is it going to be like Black Ops 1 where only a select few people could actually pull of a quickscope, or is it going to be impossible for anyone to do?
