Somebody else on the forums figured it was actually 37% of players got over compensated.
Good fucking job on using decimals higby.
That's a lot of drama.
i got a whole 13 certs, pfffft
i got a whole 13 certs, pfffft
I got a few thousand. It has made the game a whole lot better. It has been my biggest gripe so far with going f2p.
should apologize for the horrible optimization too
I really hate the whole certs system all together, wish I could just buy the damn game and earn guns through battle rank cod-style or some shit.
Hmmm...
I don't think I'll ever be able to buy another gun without using real money. I bought an optic, that's it.
should apologize for the horrible optimization too
and you should apologize for bringing this up here
the article's got nothing to do with it holy crap
I've never seen a PS2 related thread without whining about "optimization"

Yea they should have required a subscription and failed as badly as the other MMO shooters that tried the same thing.

You mean like planetside?
and you should apologize for bringing this up here

wow did i hurt your feelings? it's pretty hard to start or have a proper discussion if you stay 100% on topic, if you haven't noticed. the article is about planetside and the devs apologizing for some stuff they did, might as well bring up the other big issue they should apologize for
so cry me a fucking river
I've never seen a PS2 related thread without whining about "optimization"
maybe because it's a rather major issue with the game??? duhhhhhhh
i'd understand if only low-end machines had problems running the game, but when it happens even with high-tier PC's (and incredibly randomly too) you gotta ask yourself (or the devs) what the hell went wrong. sorry dude but the optimization issues in PS2 will always be topical until they are fixed
Yea they should have required a subscription and failed as badly as the other MMO shooters that tried the same thing.
MMO Shooters:
Planetside

Global Agenda, firefall, that defiance MMO... But yeah there are far too few good shooter MMOs.

Well, the fact that you can have a super computer, and the game still runs like shit is kind of an issue.
i think if the optimization wasn't so bad way more people would be down with playing PS2 for longer before they move onto other games
Whenever the servers get full I get 24 FPS in fights. And my computer has the specs the game was designed for.

As far as I know its working as intended.
should apologize for the horrible optimization too
Planetside 2 is actually running pretty darn smoothly these days. For me, at least. Massive improvements over the release version.
I got 1000 certs as part of this reimbursement thing, which is pretty darn awesome, but I actually think I might have been a bit under compensated! But hey, I'm not complaining. I was never expecting free certification points to begin with, and the sudden influx has breathed some new life into the game for me.
I got 12 certs. :v:
A notification popped up in the chat log saying I had gotten 12 certs refunded.
I hadn't been online in like 2 months.
[editline]14th April 2013[/editline]
I bought a gun back when they had the triple SC promotion and it didn't unlock, and because I didn't screen shot the notification saying I unlocked it, they wouldn't give it to me.
During beta I always had bad frame rates but now I can max out the settings and I rarely get lag at all. Even in big fights my frame rate stays nice and steady it is very rare for me now that I have problems.
---------------------------------------------------------
And on the thing of certs. I have a 3 month subscription and for those that do not know there are 6 subscription teirs that you level up each month of membership.
I feel that tier 3 of membership should be the norm for players as you make 100 certs an hour.
level 3 makes you a base of 35% XP gain and the game normally increases it to 50 - 60% so you gain fast at level 3 membership.
Can anybody tell me if SOE has fucked up PS2 like they did for SWG?
I wish I benefited from cert over compensation. :v:
Certgain is perfect right now IMO ever since they've added alerts, ribbons, proper damage rewards, menace kills, etc.
Alerts: During certain times in a day an alert will happen with a 10,000xp reward (40 certs) if your faction can complete it. Currently, the only alert they have in is capturing a cont within 2 hours. During the alert, if you play on the area where the alert is for, you automatically earn +20% XP. At the end of the alert, if nobody has won, then the reward gets split up depending on territory controlled. I.E. if Vanu owns 25% of the territory where the alert is taking place by the time the alert is over, everyone playing on that faction get 25% of the reward (so 2,500 xp or 10 certs).
Ribbons: Every 10 kills you get with a weapon, you get a bonus 250xp (1 cert) in the form of a ribbon. You can only have a max of 5 ribbons per 24 hrs. The more ribbons you get the higher the reward. IE getting a second ribbon with that same weapon gets you 500xp. Sometimes though I'll just randomly get 800xp while unlocking ribbons too, and I don't know why. Maybe the first ribbon you unlock for that day gets you a bonus reward of 800xp or so?
Proper damage rewards: In that, if you deal damage to air vehicles from ground you'll get 20-25 xp just by dealing damage every few seconds wihtout having to kill. Great for rewarding drivers of Skyguards, who do a better job at deterring air in a hex rather than outright killing it. You also now get a better chunk of XP depending on the damage amount you did do when that vehicle dies. On top of this, pilots/drivers with gunners get a bigger, better slice of the XP rewards that their gunners get when they make kills. And to wrap it all up, all vehicle kill rewards have been MASSIVELY increased. Killing a heavy tank solo will net you at least 500-650XP alone assuming you kill the guy inside as well (closer to 400-450 if unattended). This also applies if you are killing tanks as a tank yourself. Killing a full sunderer? Huge rewards there. 750 or so base XP for the sundy kill, on top of 100 base XP for each person inside (up to 1200xp). Even more if those people are considered "menaces". Speaking of which...
Meances: The more XP a player has earned in one life, the higher their kill reward is when they die now. A "spawn camped" player will only get you 25-50xp per kill, but most players will still give the baseline 100xp when you kill them. However if a player has earned 1000 or so XP in one life then they are deemed a "meance" and get double rewards when you kill them (200-250 or so xp). At some point a player can become an "extreme menace", so when these players die you can get upwards of 500-600xp for the kill. This STACKS with vehicle kill rewards, etc above. So if you kill a heavy tank where the driver inside has enough XP earned in that life to make him an extreme menace, you can get a massive amount of XP for that single kill.
All of this is without boosts, and it works GREAT for quick jump in and jump out sessions. I.E. If I only have 30 minutes to play I can jump in real quick and easily (without any boosts) make 35-50 certs in that 30 minute time period depending on what ribbons I get, what kinds of things I kill, if I capture territory, if there is an alert going on, etc. In the span of two hours the certs I make tend to taper off just a little, around 150-160 or so certs earned in taht play session depending on if I got any more ribbons, how proactive I was, etc.
With boosts/membership you are litterally rolling in the certs. Which is nice because they keep adding more things to spend the certs on. They even upgraded the membership benefit of earning a bonus amount of certs while offline from 24 to 48 per-day.

I know what you mean. With my current membership I am getting so many certs it is great. I bought 3 months and now feel like I am going to max out everything I need to in no time.
Only reason I ever got any guns in PS2 is because I was subscribed to DCUO for a while and had loads of SC left over from that. I can't even be bothered to play it any more since I just can't run it well enough.
