What's wrong with Origin? It's just a way for EA to consolidate their fragmented as shit account structure and rejuvenate their shitty EA Store/EADM.
See, that's the thing, I don't have a problem with them doing that. The thing I do have a problem with is this exclusive bullshit. Because of this, I won't be buying the new Alice game and likely not Battlefield 3, I'm buying a boxed copy of The Old Republic so I could care less about that one.
Not including Karkand would be like if BF2 didn't have Wake Island. It's a fan favorite, and I'm pretty sure it is the most played map on most servers.
What if I don't want to pre-order? Wait a few weeks to see if its any good? I'm getting screwed over by having to pay extra for 4 maps that should have been come with the game in the first place. I don't want to get kicked out of servers because I don't own a certain mappack.

Sequel. I shouldn't have to say more then that, but I guess someone needs to laydown a ground work.
This game is sequel of BF2 not a direct copy of BF2. It's a granted that they went back, and re-made these maps, considering with BC2:Vietnam, and BF1943 [using bold, and italic color coding] they didn't re-add popular maps such as, Battle of Hue, Battle of Saigon, Operation Flaming Dart, and Operation Game Waraden or Battle of Berlin, Battle of Bocage, Battle of Britian, Battle of El Alemain, Omaha Beach, and Battle of Kursk.
The fact their going back, and adding really fun maps just too show veteran BF players that they care, is pretty amazing. I've also heard quiet a bit of people complaining, "DAY 1 DLC" which is bullshit. They've stated numerous times it'll come out one to two months after the release of Battlefield 3, therefore it'll give players enough time to enjoy the new maps, aswell as gain some cash or wait happily for the Back too Karkand. The huge over-reaction by players everywhere has been shot out of proportion, and people need to realize its a sequel. Not a complete re-write of the game on a new engine... Just a sequel...

They've already made the maps and of course they chose fan favorites so that BF fans would either have to preorder or pay extra for it later.
Stop trying to justify it because the only reason for them doing it that way is greed.
Sounds a bit like backpedaling to me, but I'm OK with this. Still wanting it on Steam.
I don't think it is going to Steam since now EA has Origin their own "Steam".
Well, dangling fan favorites in front of the playerbase's faces and then saying "Oh, you see these? We know you like them, and you'll do anything to have them. Only preorders get your favorite maps for free." Was kinda a dick move in the end.
I'm not rating this winner. The fact that you have to pay extra for not one but FOUR new maps unless you preorder their way is worth complaining about.
From their FAQ it would appear it's not just maps and said it will be comparable to BC2 Vietnam in terms of the sort of content it adds.

You can buy the maps without preordering. Read the blog.

Uhh, no where in my post did I say that it was bad now.
I'm saying that this shouldn't have existed in the first place.
I don't know why people throw a fit over pre ordering things. You put 5 dollars down, which counts towards the purchase when you go to pick it up, and you have a copy that you know will be yours on launch day with no wait. That, and content is usually thrown in when you do so. If you are going to buy the game, and you know it is this far out, then you should really be able to put the money together before it comes out months and months ahead, and be able to afford a pre order of five dollars and have the rest on launch day or the day after or the day after that.

Well the biggest reason for me is that I don't get to see if it's actually good or if it's a flop because to get the full game they're going to make me buy it before I know if I will actually like it to make sure they don't lose a sale.

Dunno why you'd want to play karkand anyways D: was just grenade spam + APC's camping the respawns

It's not like it's going to be the exact same map and gameplay. They're not retarded at DICE.

If you watched any videos of BF3 you'll know that they have an entirely separate development team working on the Back to Karkand expansion since it's more akin to BFBC2: Vietnam than "a map pack". They actually have to do balancing of vehicles, weapons, and maps as well. If they left that in the BF3 development cycle we'd end up getting BF3 at least a few months later.
There's nothing wrong with rewarding players who preorder. They're basically taking a risk, EA is rewarding them.
Aside from not being on Steam yet (I stress yet, a lot of game don't come on Steam this far before release anyway) I don't really have any gripes. The exclusive content issue has been resolved (I really don't care if this was planed or not, it's cleared up and that's all I care about), and the Karkand expantion seems to be what I expected/what they have been saying it would be: Not just those four maps, which sure are a big part of it, but also exclusive (to the expansion) unlocks and vehicles. I really don't see what there is to complain about...
Those that aren't sure don't have to pre-order now, they don't need to hope it will be good, there's an open beta for that.
Those that don't like Origin (and want steam) are probably going to be able to pre-order from steam (which will in all likelihood include Karkand and perhaps even one of those pre-order exclusives) sometime before launch.
Those that think this is day-one DLC have been told otherwise; the content isn't on the disk and it's not coming out day-one, which sort of makes it not day-one DLC. Instead it's basically like DICE looked at the future and thought about what sort of DLC they wanted to do, decided a BF2 themed expansion was in order, then decided to give it to all pre-orders for free and for some reason that pissed people off. I think it's a good thing, they are correcting a mistake from BC2, the lack of post-release content to help keep the game fresh. This doesn't mean there's still not hope that there will be free map packs as well.
As for mod-tools, BF2 had both expansions and mod tools, BF3 can have the same; just because it doesn't come out day one or any time near that doesn't mean it will never happen. Just look at the newest patches for BF2 and BF2142.
In short, what's the problem?
What if I don't want to pre-order? Wait a few weeks to see if its any good? There's going to be a beta so you can see if you like the game before pre-ordering, and in BF3, I have a feeling they are going to do the same thing they did with BC2 Vietnam, have a button you click which switches to Vietnam (a game within the game if you will); I really can't see it being an issue like it could easily be in BO or something.
They've already made the maps and of course they chose fan favorites so that BF fans would either have to preorder or pay extra for it later.

Do tell why anyone wouldn't pre-order if they wanted the game; there's plenty of time to get money for it (and it's summer, so even kids can get a job mowing the grass or something). It's not like if you don't pre-order by next week, you don't get it, like any pre-order bonus it's probably going to last until the last second before release.
Also, maybe, just maybe, being the smart Developers they are they picked the fan favorites because that's the maps most fans would want to play; go figure.
I'm not saying they don't want money, but they aren't being nearly as greedy as some developers/publishers, they aren't cutting content, they aren't making day-one DLC, and we might even see free map packs and perhaps even mod tools.
