The game was in development for 3 years, so I dont think it has anything to do with election year.
They are like Activision, they have a schedule they follow with their releases to insure one is released each year. This one was planned to come out this year since the day they started working on it.
Why are you throwing your toys around just from hearing about the REGION that the next AC will be in
Because it is both incredibly ridiculous and entirely unrelated to anything they had established previously.

Actually we've known since the first game that the ancestors lived in every notable era
I knew it was going to go into the colonial age next. I mean, it was the only next major period after the renaissance.
I don't get what is wrong with the DRM
I have never had a single problem with it with my completely awful internet that goes out at random.
I could have sworn there was a CTRL ALT DEL comic that foreshadowed this, but everyone made fun of it.
Benedict Arnold is the final boss.
I can see it now, the main character jumps into the ranks of British soldiers.
Then they all make a circle around him and one by one attack him with their bayonets and die.
Go I get to learn about the American Revolution? In Assasin's Creed? Sweet.
I heard it might be set in ancient egypt...
Always wanted to climb the shit out of that colonial buildings
GENERAL CASTER IS DOWN
10 bucks he's a templar.

The French revolution is actually more unrelated.
Have you played Revelations? The game pretty much ended in the US anyway (Implying New York is home to some sort of vault, significant to the main story). It's about time we start bringing the game back home to keep it relevant to the rest of the game in it's current state.
Oh wow. I can't think of ANY other games that take place in this region, let alone any AAA ones that stand a snowball's chance in hell of being fun to play.
Come on Ubi. Release this one DRM-free. I'll buy it if you do. I've avoided the rest of the series because of your fucking insane DRM, at least release this one without it.
Well, there was that Darkest of Days game where at one point you time travel to the Civil War era. It's pretty fun, might be worth the $20 if you like time travel and such.
Yeah, exactly what we need... Muuurrriiiicaa, after all the games that portrayed america as the bad guys... oh...

It's unpolished as hell, but It was fun.
This sounds like it could be interesting. I think Washington was supposedly a Templar, unless they retcon that out.
Maybe this time Desmond will be Asian
final mission you blow abe lincoln's brains out sorry folks
Uhh, Lincoln was the Civil war, not revolution.
Yeah, exactly what we need... Muuurrriiiicaa, after all the games that portrayed america as the bad guys... oh...
They likely will.
In one of the hidden glyphs in either AC2 or Brotherhood it showed George Washington as a Templar (He had the Apple, like Napoleon later would). This ultimately mean that revolution itself is just a Templar power grab. If anyone payed any attention to the story of the prior games, you would know that the American Founders are definitely not going to be portrayed as good. Or you can just shove your head in the sand and scream bloody murder because of the setting. Whatever.
i bet you cause the crack in the liberty bell or your in the room as the declaration of independence is signed or some shit
Would of preferred Victorian London. Buildings are nice and tall, would of been awesome climb up Big Ben and we would get to chase down a Templar Jack the Ripper who had been killing the gypsies/prostitutes faction.
It makes no sense that they would do it during the Revolutionary war, not the American one anyway. Everything so far had been pointing to the French Revolution. I was in fact really excited about it being during the French Revolution. What the fuck did you damned idiots do? You had it all set up that way, the marking from the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, various little other hints in Brotherhood and Revelations. Hell, they even had a multiplayer map set in France for Brotherhood, an area that had nothing to do with the series thus far. How does this make any sense?

Actually, I get it, its a fucking election year. Got to appeal to the patriot idiot demographic.
wow do you know anything about the french role in the american revolution at all?
i'll probably be getting this title, none of them have interested me past the first game, but this sounds great.
This is cool, but I was REALLY hoping for it to take place in London at the height of the industrial revolution and the victorian era, or in New York City in the industrial revolution (go watch Gangs of New York and you'll see what I'm talking about).
Assassins Creed Official just posted this on their facebook wall:

Instant boner!
Delicious Tomahawk.
I also see two pistols on his side.

How so? They've already established that George Washington had a Piece of Eden in his possession (his affiliations to the Templars or Assassin's is yet unknown), at the end of AC:R they say [sp]The Vault is somewhere in New York or at least the New England area[/sp], and considering all the conspiracy theories regarding the Founding Fathers, Free Masonry, and the nation's architecture from that time period... it makes sense.

You're letting your own anti-American attitude and your fairly baseless expectation of where you wanted the story to go get in the way of logic. There are plenty of places and time periods they could have gone to and made the story fit. But considering what they have plainly laid down for the story and for Desmond's destination, the American Revolution is logical and makes sense. And, honestly, when has the Assassin's Creed franchise been favorable to one side? They make numerous people from both sides of the historical conflicts into Templars and Assassin's based on their historical backgrounds and motivations. So, there is no doubt that the Founding Fathers will have Templars in their midst and not portrayed as super 'all-American' good guys.
The guy has to be from Europe. But in the last scene of Ass Creed, Revelations, it had Desmond saying he knew what he had to do.
Then there was a scene in the future, where it had I think the Templars ruled the world, and they all got killed because of a sun strike(I forget the name)?
How they are going to tie in, the hidden underground areas, and guns.. And a war going on..
It's not illogical to assume that the protagonist is half Native-American half European, considering the time period and all.
Boy did you misunderstand that scene (Assassin's Creed: Revelations spoilers): [sp] That was showing the past of The First Civilization/Those Who Came Before being eradicated by a solar flare. They talk about how that devastated their population and allowed humanity to eventually outnumber them. It further explains that that particular city is in what is now New York and there is an underground Super Vault that bears knowledge of how to prevent the next scheduled solar flare.[/sp]
Gonna be interesting to see how they incorporate dodging bullets.

Minus the boobs part, what a shame
Pretty sure the Revolutionaries are going to be the villains in this one. Why? Because in the lore America is a totally Mason (Templar) government, founded by Masons (Templars) and ruled by Masons (Templars). As well, if the protag is Native American as some have said, you might very well be working with the British since most Native Americans allied with the British. So there's a fair chance that, unless they retcon it, you will be aiding the British. Unless they have you fighting with the Americans only to find the ever so shocking twist that the American leaders are Templars. (Most likely the latter now that I see the cover has you killing a Brit)

Did you not play 2 through Revelations? Ezio is a literal bullet sponge. Don't see why Ubisoft would make this guy different. Either that or the long reload times for the guns of that era let your health regenerate enough so the next bullet that hits won't kill you either.
