What about making good quality games with an good price maybe that could work maybe
Pulling figures out your arse, great job.
goddamnit yves, when you make up statistics you make it something "believable", like 25/50/75 and add some percent, like 78%.
I'd rather they just give up on pc. Their games are all clear console ports and run and play like ass on pc anyway.
besides, if they get 93% piracy when they have several million copies sold, they would know their game was popular.
Agreed..Im sure it is around 45 68%
wow, there statisic is so fucked up, basically took the total percentage of pirated material and just split it between pc and mac. It's not acutally there sales vs piracy but just there piracy split between pc and mac. nice fucking way of trying to cheat your way into saying more drm is needed ubisoft
By the way is Uplay any good?
yeah and there are thousands if not millions going to pirate AC3 for the consoles so suck shit through a straw ubisoft.
By the way is Uplay any good?
No. I've lost about 20 hours of progress in AC 2 combined, and according to the support it is because of Uplay.
93% piracy rate? So if they sold 1 million copies, that means 14 million* people pirated it. Wow. *I suck at math.
I'd rather they just give up on pc. Their games are all clear console ports and run and play like ass on pc anyway.
ghost recon: future soldier for pc was the worst $50 ive ever spent. did they even fucking TRY to port this?
"Instead of fixing the reason people pirate our games, we'll make it so there's nothing to pirate!"
There's absolutely no way 93% is accurate. It was on steam top sellers for a while. They just pulled the number out of their ass.
The funny thing is, i want to buy some ubisoft games, but there is a little thing called "DRM" that i dont want.
2 years from now. "346% of our F2P games are being pirated. We need to go double F2P"
Well when they spout shit like this it's no wonder no one wants to give these bozos any money. Plus more than half of their ports are arse anyway.
>make shitty console ports of games >noone buys any games they make >"piracy on PC is high, we have a NEW super duper cool hip DRM for you guys!" >make draconic DRM >noone buys any games they make >"omg fucking piracy reached 93% guys, PC sucks. :( we totally didn't pull that out of our asses or anything. :'(" Great fucking move, Ubisoft. It's like all these big companies are the embodiment of what's wrong with the current video game industry. Activision - rehashes and little to no innovation. EA - greed. Ubisoft - abso-fucking-lutely horrible DRM.

But then that's over in Japan, so meh.
No way 93% is real. They made up that number. Then again if you think of it, it might be the From Dust case, where many, many people downloaded it to try it out before buying it and turned out to be both a shit overhyped port and a massive disappointment. Serves them so damn well.
Bah, piracy statistics are nearly useless. Even if this was an exact percentage, there's still a huge number of people who would never have bought it in the first place. These numbers are totally unrelated to lost sales.
I bought some of your shitty games Ubi, in the vain hope you would wise up.
Somebody in the other thread said the number isn't accurate to what they're trying to get people to believe. That the real statistic is that 93% of the games that ARE pirated are on PC (as opposed to Mac). Not 93% of their PC games are pirated. I don't know if that's true either though.
Pulling figures out your arse, great job.
I'd actually wouldn't be surprised if those were fairly standard numbers. The thing is though, the rate of piracy should not be important. The importan factor should be units shipped and sold. Generally speaking piracy rates do wary between 80-95 percent.
Meh, Games like World of Goo and Machinarium had 90-93% piracy rates during the humble bundles, so I doubt these facts are far off. Doesn't change the fact that Ubisoft is going about this the wrong way and only inflames pirates with rhetoric like this.
Doesn't sell games, blames piracy
Yves Guillemot rage more.Anyways those percents are out of his ass,I say it's 10% and that is shared between all the platforms...I'm pretty sure there is more pirating on the consoles than pc (considering games).Anyways...yeah,another way of saying "we're lazy".
Seems to me Ubisoft are just being tits. The reason people pirate the games they make is because of the shitty DRM they throw on games. That, and quite a lot of them are horrid console ports. If they actually put in effort when making these games then they'd get loads more sales.
