EVE Online's "This is EVE" trailer uses player voice comms to capture the MMO
I don't know why people kick up a fuss about this since the same could be said for any other MMO. They're designed to be a timesink and reward you the longer you play. You don't need to spend hundreds upon hundreds of hours training/doing nothing, it only takes a few days or so to train to actually be useful in a fleet. I would recommend anyone new to join a corp since it's a shortcut to fun.
This trailer has much more credibility than your average MMO trailer. The visuals are choreographed of course, but it's based on real in-game events and has the players' real reactions. Watch a trailer for WoW or one of its clones and you see some main characters doing flashy fighting moves and grimacing at eachother, and you know in the back of your mind it's a world away from the reality of endless hotbar bashing.

You don't need shit but a day or three of skills and a Merlin. My favorite EvE moment is when a Domi was like it's just a Merlin what the fuck can he do to me, I'm practically invincible as far as he is concerned. Well, little Domi got a little cocky and it cost him his ship because I outsmarted and outplayed him
I still feel like $15 a month is pretty steep for a game that requires a huge time investment, if you don't have a lot of time to invest.
Your skills train even when you aren't playing. So it kind of balances out, and you don't really need to max skills to be useful, especially in a fleet. The only time you'll NEED skills is when you want to fly and fit something specific, but there's always lesser versions, which are still viable, you can fit without needing to invest 2 years of time
I really wish I was a good pilot in EVE, normally I lose to just about anyone I go up against.
The biggest timesink, the learning skills, were removed quite a while ago. If you haven't gotten into it in years, try again. You might be surprised.

Merlins are no joke. Especially when you fit them with T2 blasters and you know how to use your transversal :v
MASB merlin and t2 blasters will FUCK YOU UP
also battle herons
this is missing the FC yelling at people to shut the fuck up as an idiot joins the comms on his music bot accidentally.
Haha holy shit that Rohk smartbomb camp

Seriously how did they not have a +1 for that fleet
that was a thing done by rooks and kings; they'd have a neut cyno alt ready to cyno as soon (and not before) the hostiles entered warp, bubble shit up and then proceed to smartbomb the hell out of anything.
they've even made an hour long video about it

Great video, that. Funny and Interesting
As a professional Merlin, Kondor and Kestrel pilot. Flying small shit that people underestimate is hilarious. The Merlin is a really strong frigate no matter what any one says. It's tanky, average in speed and can get a hell a lot of DPS. Most of all, I've had pilots who are years older then me underestimate it and get wrecked. "Oh I bet I can alpha/kill this Merlin before his fleet comes." etc.
