Yeah because there wasn't a massive increase in sales with DayZ and most people didn't buy Arma 2 CO just for DayZ It'd be an asshole thing to do not to acknowledge that
People that bought HL2 for Gmod 9 didn't get a discount on Gmod 10 either, so whats your problem?
Just because he is going standalone doesent mean he has the manpower to redo ArmA.
If Bohemia has any sense they will give him that manpower. There is a reason why Arma 2 has been in the top 5 on the Steam top sellers list consistently for 4 months.
just because you bought the game for Day Z doesn't mean you're entitled to a discount. All of the arguments for it basically boils down to whining and complaining.

I'm quoting BIS' community manager here, so no I dont need to cite my sources.
DayZ is only a fraction of total ArmA2 sales. I'm quoting BIS' community manager here, so no I dont need to cite my sources.
RIGHT. ... RIGHT.
RIGHT. ... RIGHT.
Can you instead tell me why I'm wrong instead of giving generic capslock response?
I mean really if you bought ARMA 2/CO for only the sole purpose of playing Day Z that's pretty fucking stupid considering the base game of ARMA 2/CO is leagues better than Day Z.
DayZ is only a fraction of total ArmA2 sales. I'm quoting BIS' community manager here, so no I dont need to cite my sources.
nine tenths is a fraction of one, you know
I mean really if you bought ARMA 2/CO for only the sole purpose of playing Day Z that's pretty fucking stupid considering the base game of ARMA 2/CO is leagues better than Day Z.
It honestly makes no sense why not a lot of people bought ARMA by its self in the first place, seriously you see most PC gamers complain about CoD going "omg it's not realistic so it sucks!!!" for a game that never tries to be but then only buy a realistic game for a zombie mod :v: I'm happy they didn't put the games 75% like the past sales, they deserve the money.

ArmA2 has been out since 2009 and you realize ArmA isnt steam exclusive? [editline]7th August 2012[/editline]
nine tenths is a fraction of one, you know
Typicall when somebody says "A fraction of X" they mean a small amount. English probably isnt your first language.

I don't know if they should do this A lot of people. Several hundred thousand at least, already forked out the money for Arma2/Combined Ops to play DayZ... Should just leave it as a mod/official game type
point is DayZ has made them a shit ton of money, more then they care to admit.
More then they care to admit? They're making a standalone game out of it, I'd say they've admitted it as much as pretty fucking possible.
Most people who complain about CoD for reasons like that are bandwagoning or dumb Arma 2 is brilliant when it comes to simulating a realistic war experience (in fact the same engine is used for training sims for the army, iirc) but that isn't too much fun without 20+ friends who are into the same thing and dropped $20 in the game to play it and even then it still takes organization (something like Shack Tac) to play the game the way it's supposed to be played.
More then they care to admit? They're making a standalone game out of it, I'd say they've admitted it as much as pretty fucking possible.
yes but they SAY it hasn't had a big impact on sales. Everyone with a brain can see otherwise.
yes but they SAY it hasn't had a big impact on sales. Everyone with a brain can see otherwise.
Can you just shut up? They're making a standalone game of it, DEAL WITH IT.

ARMA 2 is basically a game engine with built-in SDK and some examples (missions) available. Whole point of ARMA is to play the way you want to, not the way you're supposed to.
Can you just shut up? They're making a standalone game of it, DEAL WITH IT.
did I say Had a problem with that? I said DayZ has made them a shit ton of money and they SHOULD put a full Dev team on it, then you all come over and try to argue essentially: "NO ARMA 2 IS SELLS LIKE METH JUST BECAUSE"
This man knows his shit, If you're thinking of the right way to play arma2, you're already doing it wrong.
That depends, I've seen numerous people run into the middle of a field then get shot down by low skill AI's and come to the conclusion that arma 2 is a horribly made game. There is a right way to play it most of the time.
did I say Had a problem with that? I said DayZ has made them a shit ton of money and they SHOULD put a full Dev team on it, then you all come over and try to argue essentially: "NO ARMA 2 IS SELLS LIKE METH JUST BECAUSE"
Because we've been playing Arma since it first came out and seen how it sold the past few years.
That depends, I've seen numerous people run into the middle of a field then get shot down by low skill AI's. There is a right way to play it most of the time.
We're talking about two different things. I was saying that there are so many different missions available (or possible to make) in ARMA that you can chose how you want to play it. Want to drive a Tank Platoon! Go ahead. Want to play as a lone spec op? Here you go. Want to play as hardcore tactical squad with your mates? Sure. You can tailor the game to how you want to play.
I foresee many vacations in the future.
Technically you're right. Traveling from the Czeck Republic to many foreign countries to go to conventions is kinda vacation.
Because we've been playing Arma since it first came out and seen how it sold the past few years.
and I've been playing since Operation Flashpoint. I know the game is good, but it's not Big budget AAA:sell millions of copies on day one Good, it's a very specific game that fills a very specific niche it's great for what it is but it's not something that has a wide appeal to as broad a spectrum as Gaming is. DayZ has to potential to BE that good. There are games that people go to because it is of a specific genre, then there are games that DRAG you into that genre. ARMA is the former, DayZ is the latter.
This is why they are making DayZ indepedent. Arma players can continue with their doing and the Dayz players can have fun in their own game.
and logic dictates that they should treat this golden goose as a Major project and not an indie game.
Only if the AI's especially like you, the AI hasn't changed a whole lot since OFP.
Mods. ASR_AI + TPWC_AI + COSLX pretty much solves all AI problems ever.
Only if the AI's especially like you, the AI hasn't changed a whole lot since OFP.
Terminator AI that is prone to Explosive bouts of stupidity Looking at you Tank AI.
