I think I'll actually try WarZ before the DayZ standalone version
To be honest, i do not believe whatever they say about the war Z. It is the exact same concept, big map, pvp, zombies, backpacks. It looks so similair, I just can't think that they build this for 2 years, also we didn't get to see any videos of it yet, which just seems weird.
since when are Backpacks, PVP and zombies invented by DayZ?
since when are Backpacks, PVP and zombies invented by DayZ?
Since CoD invented the War Simulator.
Went afk for 1minute in a safe spot to come back and see myself dead. Whole server was teleported and slayed. I love hackers. Who needs an as50, m4a1 cco sd, ghillie suits, nvgs and every fucking tool anyway edit: Wow half of my post got deleted by accident, my point was if this keeps up in the standalone game, fuck that shit, not going to get it untill getting hurt by hackers becomes extremelly rare or non-existant
Not really, Arma 2 is a clunky mess , I mean yeah the weapons are nicely done but the way aiming and movement was done is just terrible. For fucks sake Quake 2 has more fluid movement than Arma 2 and it's almost 15 years old.
turn view bob off. wow, it's like magic! you can turn off the aiming deadzone too! and it's a simulator. you ever try running around in full gear with a weapon in your hand and see how fluid you can be.
I bought combined ops for this, but i never got the chance to downlaod the mod. Question, are the controls in dayZ as confusing and ass backwards as arma? or are they more streamlined? Regardless, i think creating a stand alone dayZ is a step in the right direction and i'll definitely be getting it. Edit: Thanks for the box shazzy, But maybe you could shed some light and answer my question as well? I would appreciate it
Mishandled or not I like the style minecraft is developed in, where the game started off in a state where you could play it for people who are really interested in it and want a chance to play an early version, and then the game just steadily got better
Can't wait to see what they're doing with it. The Arma 3 engine can make it look a lot better, and the fact that it's standalone means they can cut out the stuff from the base game that caused bugs or other annoyances.
They're using a licensed version of the ArmA engine. It'll be the same game with less constraints. [editline]7th August 2012[/editline]
Moving around in real life isn't as awkward as it is in Arma 2, please try again.
haha someone's never carried any sort of weight around, let alone full military gear.
Now us normal Arma players won't have to scroll though a million DayZ servers.
I've played Arma 2 for a couple hours. The AI is shit, movement is shit, everything is clunky and overall not fun other than getting some friends and a map full of vehicles in Armex
I've always wanted to play DayZ but never did want to buy Arma 2, mostly because I'd never play Arma.

Hopefully he works on new weapons, models, and maybe buildings. Fiddle around with the zombie animations so they don't run like kenyans.

Probably five hours of vanilla arma. I can stand it because DayZ is fun and I have friends to play it with, and the shit AI is on the other side and doesn't have one hit killing guns.
Why all the complaining about the mechanics, if you don't like it just ignore it. It's a milsim after all. I love Day Z, even in its unpolished alpha glory. Plenty of work to be done but the potential is there. Arma 2 is pretty fun now I've tried some of the missions, but I prefer watching the ShackTac videos.
Now us normal Arma players won't have to scroll though a million DayZ servers.
that's fixed in the latest beta patch
that's fixed in the latest beta patch
3 beta's ago.
there's no aiming deadzone in arma 2.
Yes there is, but it's very small by default and most people turn it off entirely. Anyway, this is pretty cool, and no, they are not entitled to give us a discount; apart from the fact that when we buy ARMA we're buying it from Bohemia, not Rocket, there's the fact that we already have and will always have the ARMA2 version of DayZ, regardless of what comes out later. We didn't bitch at Valve when they released Half Life 2 without giving a discount to Half Life 1 players, because that's ridiculous.
The moment the word 'Minecraft' was said, everybody immediately moved over to the Notch hate train. Brilliant. I've seen an interview with him, he seems like a pretty cool guy, so I'm not too worried about this.
people buy arma 2 to play a FREE mod expect a discount after playing a free mod what you bought arma 2, not day z so stop being self entitled shits those of you asking for discounts
Was hoping it would wait till Arma 3 came out and use the updated engine
well if they're doing the mc method, you can buy it now and still get the arma 3 engine version when it comes out. for all we know they might already be doing it with the arma 3 engine.
If ARMA 3 API isn't exactly the same as ARMA 2's API then moving DayZ to ARMA 3 will pretty much force it's developer(s?) to redo ALL scripting, and I doubt that they're ready to do that.
Was hoping it would wait till Arma 3 came out and use the updated engine
It is.. the community alpha for arma 3 is coming out in a week or so. [editline]8th August 2012[/editline] I guess I was wrong then.
No? The worst thing that could happen is some scripting commands become deprecated. Its been the same from arma 1 to arma 2 etc.
ARMA3 supports SQF syntax (and will also support Java) All of the commands that are currently in A2 will be in A3.
I thought Java was not confirmed.
It pretty much is since TOH supports java.
Well I guess I'll buy this as soon as available. Always wanted to try it out, but it felt wrong to buy a game for the mod.
