Bribing the patent office, pretty low apple, pretty low
That's bullshit. My Android phone has all the things on that list, shouldn't it be banned too?
See, if the patent office was any good at this, we'd only see very specific patents used to prevent people from making identical copies of other products. Instead, you get to make extremely vague patents that you get to use aggressively against the product of your choosing.
Why can't a huge sinkhole form and suck the entire corporation into oblivion
Guys, read the fucking article, while apple is indeed ridiculous the ban was based on the Unified Search Engine, it has nothing to do with the text prediction and stuff, you won't be losing any of these.
which is also a patent that shouldn't exist, seeing as other things have done this before apple even made the first iphone
i had the greenlight to finally buy my galaxy nexus after 1.5 year of saving money, today, but couldnt

Colors can be protected by trademark because of brand recognition (but heavily restricted) but they can not be patented. You could however patent the process in which the color is made, which is what pantone has patents for.
You can be a smartass all you want, but read up before you post ktnx.

ohgodohgod guys we better bail, Apple's lawyers are going to come crashing through the page margins at that.
chill the fuck out mobrockers im kidding
Okay sorry I love you no hard feelings no homo brofist
Every day I think I can't hate Apple more than now, but every day I hate Apple a little more.
Next step is patent the use of a portable device to communicate with someone with a similar device.
How about we ban Apple instead?
(im jking please don't kill me)
My nokia from two years ago has a slide to unlock built in. Guess I should throw it out.
Think Different.
Think Slavery.
These kind of patents are what occurs when the technologically illiterate attempt to make rules for technology.
a text input interface that tries to anticipate which words the user wants to type and makes recommendations
Bullshit. It's T9 and it's existed since way before the iPhone.
The text prediction patent has to do with communication with a touch screen. So, basically if the program has text prediction and you're using that touch screen keyboard, Apple doesn't like it.

The detected structure one sounds similar to the standard right click menu (why does this one exist?)

God I hate software patents. Most of them are either a handful of lines of code that does some basic function, or its a fucking concept of the same basic function.
The concept of a software patent in general makes no sense, a patent is for an invention, a physical design or something that produces a physical product. Not for something that has literally no physical medium past what it is printed on. Code can be written by hand, typed, etched, or printed. It is letters, words, and characters, they are instructions and NOTHING MORE. Therefore, you seek a COPYRIGHT on code, not a PATENT.
