No, it isn't a monopoly.
But the two major gaming outlets in the UK (GAME and Gamestation) are both owned by the same company. Removing the rights of certain distributors to sell the game in favour of their own outlets almost certainly bumps them near to the 30% market share.

I don't get why more people are okay with GFWL but they have a fit over Origin. I've had to use both and Origin is a lot less intrusive and less in your face all the time.
i don't really give a fuck about either of those since GFWL works for me just as it should too and and i can uninstall origin even after i've downloaded dragon age origins through it since it's not really bound to it or anything

For me half the time gfwl cant sign me in and I have to usually wait 3 minutes if it does work. Not to mention I cant stand the updates as soon as I buy the game. With origins atleast with battlefield I can't uninstall it because its needed to start the game.

I have major issues with GFWL because of the way it handles save data.
I have been forced to start new games on GTA IV because of the way the save system was handled. It is impossible to backup and restore your saves.
If GFWL had a cloud service for your player data, it would fix this major issue.
