"There isn't a difference between a pinch and a punch, people just think their pain is greater than someone's else pain"
I never said the majority of rape claims were false. I never said that with a minority of rape claims being false, that in any way shape or form effects the rest of said rape claims. I simply said that not all things reported are fact.
So, if "not all things reported are fact" doesn't meaningfully affect the number of rapes... why bring it up?
First, please provide a trusted source with the difference between majority and significant proportion.
Second, I originally used "majority" in my statement. I have no reason to be speaking about significant proportion besides that fact that you literally want to fuck the phrase to death.
Lastly, you are the most nit-picking motherfucker I have ever met. Holy shit. Wow.
Also, don't bullshit me with this taboo. Either everything is worth making jokes or nothing is worth making jokes. Freedom of speech means I can say whatever the fuck I want, even if you don't like it.
Did you seriously just use the guardian as a point of referen-- what the fuck are you doing

Because everything in this thread so far should have been taken with a grain of salt, this moreso. When police shooting armed perps are counted in acts of gun violence statistics, I don't really see how any other claims can be reasonably verified.

yeah alright you're just being stupid
there's no point arguing with someone who's too deluded to even know how to read a post or do a google search
Did you seriously just use the guardian as a point of referen-- what the fuck are you doing
I got this, I got this.

So I used the proper term based on denotation and he used a term based on connotation. I fail to see how that makes me at fault.
Googles searches of "majority versus significant proportions semantics" didn't turn up anything useful.
So I used the proper term based on denotation and he used a term based on connotation. I fail to see how that makes me at fault.
You did not use the proper term based on denotation. You used an improper term based on your own connotations.
"There isn't a difference between a pinch and a punch, people just think their pain is greater than someone's else pain"
A pinch to an eyeball or a punch to an eyeball, which one hurts more?
-snip- yeah fuck it, Teracotta does not understand the definitions of words in the English language.
You did not use the proper term based on denotation. You used an improper term based on your own connotations.
Majority is used in reference to a group or population. I used majority with a group of rape claims. I'm really just not seeing this.

You said that I thought that you assumed the majority of rape claims were false
I did not do this. I said that you thought A statistically significant proportion of rape claims were false

I'm pretty sure this means exactly the same thing to most of the people who speak English on this planet.
A pinch to an eyeball or a punch to an eyeball, which one hurts more?
Seeing as how I just pinched my eyelids with no pain
a punch
hell I'll do a light pinch to my bare eye just to please you
oh hey I'm fine
a tiny bit of stinging, and my nail touched the edge which hurt a tiny bit
but other than that
I'm fine
Seeing as how I just pinched my eyelids with no pain

So the pinch is light, but the punch isn't?
I just pinched my eyelid and that shit fucking hurt.
I'm pretty sure this means exactly the same thing to most of the people who speak English on this planet.
Okay? But if we're going by the actual definitions(which I was), I used the actual denotations of both words. You conflated both together to have the same definition, when that's simply what they are in general vernacular, that's their connotation.
I understand how you could mix them up the first time, but it's taken four explanations to show you the difference, dude.
So the pinch is light, but the punch isn't?
So the pinch and punch have to go to the eye?
You know what, I just love how you're trying to say that absolutely anything is okay to joke about, but when I turn that into an analogy, you say "well most places would be okay to pinch, but not the eye, that would always hurt".
Completely ignoring the irony of stating that you have to avoid sensitive areas.
But still, this is an analogy. You're the one comparing normal jokes to jokes where rape is the punchline. Do you honestly think "oh man last night this guy right here thought that chimps hibernated" and "and then they held her down and raped her!" are equally offensive? Do you honestly not get that a joke where someone getting raped is the punchline will normalize rape, making it seem less terrible to people and possibly contributing a bit to thinking rape is okay? "Hey, the guys are all joking about it, I'm right, it's not that bad, women are just whiny"
And you're ignoring how PTSD works. You know, that shit soldiers get when they go off to war and kill people and almost get killed themselves? Guess what, rape victims get PTSD too.
Later, I'm going to see a movie.
So the pinch is light, but the punch isn't?
Well a pinch to the eye, hypothetically, won't cause any lasting damage
A punch, however, has the chance of rupturing the eyeball by crushing it between the fist and the eye socket

Any trauma can cause PTSD. That's why therapy exists. To get over it. PTSD is not some shield you get to pull everytime someone offends you.

You realize therapy isn't like, a one time session where they wipe your memory and your trauma's gone, right? And again, allow us to bring up this point you so deftly ignored before:

Please, do what you said you would do before and stop posting
You've told us you don't care but you're still posting.

Telling people to just get over Mental Illness is like telling someone who is disabled to just get up and do a tap dance.
It is by no means a simple go to a few sessions, take a few pills and you'll be fine. It is with you for the rest of your fucking life with some people.
It actually shapes you, changes you into someone else and is never simple.
Nothing about Mental Health is "Simple".
Its thinking like this that makes things worse and actually creates a Social stigma.
I've never experienced this in my life.
Your parents make you call home?
no but they still tell ya. It's more of a family goodbye around here

Alright, what is your definition of significant proportion?

I'm going to say it again, do I care? No. Not really. Because every time you make a joke it's bound to have someone validated and/or someone offended. As long as everyone can be made fun of, it's fair game.
Alright, what is your definition of significant proportion?
From my actual education in Statistics, a "statistically significant proportion", in regards to disproving the validity of a study, is a difference in proportions derived from two samples large enough that said difference could not be the result of random chance. It implies that one of the samples is incorrect.
Anyone who's taken a basic statistics class in fucking high school knows this.

If you don't care, why are you doing all these mental gymnastics and continuing to post about how shitty of a person you are
How old are you, Ragekipz? Because one day your attitude will probably make fewer people like you.
There's no mental gymnastics. You're saying something bad happen to someone, and I should somehow care and not joke about it. I'm saying that bad things can happen to anyone, if you were to take everything that can offend in account, you'd never make jokes.
I'm going to say it again, do I care? No. Not really. Because every time you make a joke it's bound to have someone validated and/or someone offended. As long as everyone can be made fun of, it's fair game.
Just a question.
If you don't give a shit at all, then why are you still arguing?
Just a question.

Because I want to see if you have a point about "why I should care".

If you can't think of any jokes that don't offend anyone, maybe that's your fault and not society's
Maybe you're just not funny and you think using shock value as a crutch is okay

Hey, it worked for Eddie Murphy, did it not?
