I do hope they make expansions on the personal story though. Just keep away from the risen, though. The game slowly turned into a zombie-slaying-fest.
[sp]Trahearne, pls gp.[/sp]
Trahearne sounds like somebody whos talking though microsoft sam.
Well, I already decided I was going to buy this game.
who pissed in your cheerios?
The people praising ArenaNet for doing absolutely nothing special.
Soooooo... They're doing what ever other MMO has done since the beginning of time? Does something like that even need to be announced anymore?
Free updates here! Only 15 dollars a month!
The people praising ArenaNet for doing absolutely nothing special.
How DARE they tell the community what they are planning to do and have people like that they are telling them! Those fuckers!
Free updates here! Only 15 dollars a month!
Discounting the fact that most F2P MMOs have free content updates. Also discounting the fact that the $15 a month is an alternative to GW2's microtransaction system, which is going to fuel future development of "free" content updates. They are going to be free for me, but not free for a friend of mine who bought 3 character slots and more storage.

Compared to $15 a month or you get nothing.
They need the same money for content, arguably probably more than EVE or WoW because those games are 8 years old running on pipelines that are far simpler. If we are going to say free content in those games isn't free because you are paying $15 a month, then it's fair enough to say free content in GW2 isn't free because someone who wasn't me paid $30. [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] And again, free games have plenty of free content updates as well. Hi Rez has been doing "free content updates" for a year now.

ANet announced their game plan and that is somehow a terrible thing because some people liked that they told them what they were gonna do even if it was nothing mind blowing. I dunno about you but I'd rather they told me rather than just assume they were gonna do something because when they officially say what they are gonna do and then don't do it they can be called out on it. You can't do that when all you've got are assumptions.
No issue, just not really news worthy either. Then again, "Call of Duty DLC #4" has headlines so whatevs.
This is more newsworthy than half the other stuff Shacknews posts

People are acting like Arenanet wrote these articles and are spewing them everywhere [editline]21st September 2012[/editline]
It's not about them telling people, it's about people praising them for doing absolutely nothing new.
Not really the point. They're doing something good and the people who play the game are happy about it. If every other game does it then that's fine as well.
It's not about them telling people, it's about people praising them for doing absolutely nothing new.
Wow, big fuckin deal. How dare people like that they were kept in the loop. They should be burnt alive. So what if they did nothing new? Talk about making an issue out of a non-issue.
Wow, big fuckin deal. How dare people like that they were kept in the loop. They should be burnt alive. So what if they did nothing new? Talk about making an issue out of a non-issue.
Its a continuous trend Arenanet seems to exhibit, so I decided to comment on it. Your defense squad replies are the issue, not people talking about a video game. [editline]21st September 2012[/editline]
People are acting like Arenanet wrote these articles and are spewing them everywhere
not gonna lie their blog articles sound pretty masturbatory. I mean obviously it's their game and they are trying to hype it up but they oversell every little thing they do.
Its a continuous trend Arenanet seems to exhibit
Announcing things.
Announcing things.
"There will be free content" is announcing things "There will be free content and its going to be awesome" is announcing things "There will be free content and its going to be awesome and consist of XYZ" is announcing things
"We do appreciate that you'd like to buy lots of new content, but we'd prefer to give a lot of it to you for free, cause that's what we think a responsible MMO company does!"
is silly.
"There will be free content" is announcing things "There will be free content and its going to be awesome" is announcing things "There will be free content and its going to be awesome and consist of XYZ" is announcing things is silly.
Those fiends!
Announcing things.
Your arguments are just getting pathetic... [editline]21st September 2012[/editline]
Those fiends!
As I said, getting pathetic...
I can't wait for the next Arenanet news release. "We plan on having balanced PVP, because that's the adult thing to do!"
Your arguments are just getting pathetic... [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] As I said, getting pathetic...
As opposed to the people who came in here just to bitch about how people were happy that a company announced their game plan and thank them for it? Yep people aren't allowed to thank them because Chirno and Raidyr thought it was nothing special.
I don't think people shouldn't be allowed to thank them for free content, I just don't think it's news worthy, and offered my thoughts. That's the beauty of internet forums. I Think you are seeing an agenda here that doesn't exist.
I don't think people shouldn't be allowed to thank them for free content, I just don't think it's news worthy, and offered my thoughts. I Think you are seeing an agenda here that doesn't exist.
Fair enough, but what I do see is, in my eyes, nitpicky complaining about what is essentially of no importance at all. I mean of all the things you guys could choose to moan about it's... this. I guess that's what has me chuffed. Surely you have to agree that this is kinda bottom of the barrel. But enough of this. I think we've reached a point where any further "discussion" isn't going to add to anything that hasn't already been said and it might escalate in a direction I think we both (and Chirno, who seems to have it out for me in every thread we happen to post in together) want to avoid so lets end this malarkey at the very least on a neutral note. We don't see eye to eye and that's just fine. That sounded better in my head.
Yeah, I'll agree it was a sort of pointless thing to say.
hurr free shit is bad go hang yourselves arenanet
I don't think people shouldn't be allowed to thank them for free content, I just don't think it's news worthy, and offered my thoughts. That's the beauty of internet forums. Just because someone from Arenanet says something at some point doesn't mean they're jacking off about it.
its hilarious before the announced this people were saying it wouldn't get updates now that they've announced it people are saying it doesn't matter make up your mind already
Free updates here! Only 15 dollars a month!
WoW uses an obligatory $15 per month subscription. GW2 uses an optional cash store. It's not like GW2 are sprouting these updates out their butthole, that's just naive. They're both good games, each model has it's pros and cons. Even if you dislike WoW, take a look at Rift. The sub model has helped them stay afloat for a dry period with a relatively low sub base, now they're gaining a heck lot more players because of their good development ethics. Fact is a sub fee stops a lot of undesirable actions in game as well, you're less likely to cheat or bot an account you've pumped a good amount of money in to. Same deal with GW2 but the fact remains it's optional so anyone buying the game with the intent to cheat doesn't need to have recurring payments. Obviously the cash store model has it's own benefits, for example it doesn't disincentivize playing after you've lost the majority of your interest in the game. On the opposite side of that though, the sub model does encourage people to play their money's worth. [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] Not that botting matters in GW2 anyway, considering arena net control the market.

And 15 dollars for the amount of content usually received isn't worth it. Servers are not that expensive to maintain. Hell I was always surprised why WoW needed to sell it's bigger content packs (aka BC, WotLK) for extra money. Shouldn't their monthly subscription fee cover that, especially as I've heard their game regularly can go several months without content updates.
