Path of Exile has a lot of great mechanics, but the gamefeel is like driving a tractor that's been at the bottom of the Dead Sea for a year.
If you are bummed about Diablo 3 just play Path of Exile.
Its free and its better.
People keep saying this and I keep telling them I can't get past act 2 because I'm bored out of my wits by the wet noodle combat. Nice classic artstyle and cool skill forest system, too bad it's all attached to a weak feeling game.

Whats so weak about it?
I thought everone hated D3 because of Always Online.?????
Whats so weak about it?
Its not that weak
But it definatly doesn't feel as satisfying and tactile as D3 or TL2
Which is bad when you are an aRPG where how the combat feels and what you can do in said combat is a huge part of the experience. Just like how a shooter that has guns that just aren't satisfying to use will make the shooting feel worse.

It's a variety of reasons, really.
'Always online' is just one of the many things that pissed people off.
am i the only one who really likes Diablo 3
No, I still found it very enjoyable and there were some aspects of it that I felt were much better than Diablo 2.

Diablo 3 isn't a bad game, but it is disappointing game, especially if you were a fan of Diablo 2.

Nah I thought it was alright.
Though it felt way to easy playing though as Barbarian.
D3 was pretty much the first ARPG I ever played, I still play it some times today
And then I went back and played D2 after I finished 3, of which I liked so much I actually own the big boxes retail copies of it and it's expansion
i played the beta of d3 and i thought it was cool just a bit dull skill system thats all

I enjoyed my first run through but I don't think I could play through it again
The story in Diablo 3 is where it fell short. Certain things were avoided, others were butchered by poor writing and lame cinematography.
Diablo 2 was the perfect ARPG. It was dark, it was gritty, it was full of action.
Diablo 3 is just full of action. There is no dark and there is definitely no gritty. The cinematics are way too clean and they even avoided one of the big things that made Diablo 2 cut scenes for me which was Diablos transformation. Diablo 3 avoided it entirely. No blood, no gore..
The transformation went down like this.
-Diablo gets cocky and grins
-Cut to flames
-Suddenly Diablo is a demon...where did the other body go?
-Lame ass fight scene, don't feel the impact of either of their blows.
It's small things like that, that ruin the story and immersion. The gameplay is fine, the story is flawed.

Yeah.
The cinematic that the D2 transformation took place was crazy.

And then it's just goes to Imperius burning Diablo out with some heavenly flame or some shit.
Watching that cut scene now still sends chills down my spine. The voice actor of Marius was great at portraying fear. And Mephisto's ritual was written well.
Nothing in Diablo 3 comes anywhere close to that same feeling.
During development of Diablo 3 everyone complained about the game being too dark and having no color. But no one, not once, ever worried about what the story or cut scenes was going to be like.

Though I agree completely, I have to add that I remember people saying the exact same things about Diablo 2 vs. Diablo 1 back when Diablo 2 came out.
Seriously, if you think Diablo 2 was dark, then you should play Diablo 1. It was pure horror. It actually had horribly maimed people crucified on upside down crosses, and other extreme satanic/demonic stuff that would earn a game an instant 18+ rating these days, if people would even be willing to rate it at all.
Diablo 1 also felt very different than Diablo 2. It was more RPG than action, your character moved very slow and it was significantly more difficult (oh god, the butcher). The voice overs were really well done as well, and there wasn't as much a story as it was more you descending into the depths below Tristram and gradually figuring out what kind of fucked up stuff was going on there, purely through background story. There was no scripted crap and lenghty cut scenes, it was all just text and voice overs you got from random tomes or optional chats with townspeople.
I agree entirely. I've played through Diablo 1 as well and it was an amazing game. But the problem with Diablo 1 was that it was just a dungeon diving game and not a true RPG so it's easy to see why Blizzard made the change from Diablo 1 to Diablo 2 by adding a world to explore.
Of course as time goes on game development goes from making the game as good as you can with what you have, to cramming as much in it before the release date hits.
