We must construct additional pylons
No they're called traffic cones.
No, they're referred to as pylons too over here in NA.
We must construct additional pylons.
Am I the only person who likes the classic pylon? [t]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VDEFHJqvE6U/TeXpUIueSaI/AAAAAAAAEYU/oYRbKGduuiA/s1600/pylon.jpg[/t] These things aren't pretentious. They don't fuck about. They don't care what you think of them. They do one thing, and they do it well - letting the entire country get electricity.
Nice. This is the one I thought would win too. Makes sense, it's the simplest one.
That's all fine and everything, but they couldn't reconstruct the existing pylons without disrupting the Grid.
I was honestly waiting for this:
Sim City 4 comes into mind. Took them how many years to design a cost-efficient and less harmful pylon? Who even drafted the first one anyway
I was honestly waiting for this:
I was honestly waiting for someone to post that.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15293922 In fact of all the designs on this page they chose the ugliest I guess simplicity and cost overshadows looks these days
Form should NEVER be valued higher than function and/or cost effectiveness.

The classic pylons depress me for some reason [editline]15th October 2011[/editline] "And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords"
That was my second least favourite one. Atleast that ugly cylinder one didn't win it though. How exactly do those floating bits stay attached though?
They don't look very durable.
They don't look very durable.
It'll be fine, as long as they use enough of them. We all know what happens when you only have one pylon powering your buildings, now don't we?
They don't look very durable.
pylons make a cool noise when you stand underthem
These are also called pylons for some reason:

No they're called traffic cones.
Both terms are correct: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_cone First sentence
Form should NEVER be valued higher than function and/or cost effectiveness.
If that was the case there wouldn't have been a competition to replace the existing ones.

Initially I thought this was some sort of sculpture of a woman bending over with her face and arms collapsed into the floor....
Form should NEVER be valued higher than function and/or cost effectiveness.
Except in consumer electronics (see: Apple).
Looks cheaper and more effective.
No, they're referred to as pylons too over here in NA.
What? No, they're called cones usually, also traffic cones.. Googling "traffic" pylons will immediately direct you to "traffic cones"
Damn I wanted this one to win:
OR why not they do like what Sweden does? Dig all the cables underground. Dig-and-Forget.
OR why not they do like what Sweden does? Dig all the cables underground. Dig-and-Forget.
Read the article? That might help you a little.
This is good, we needed more pylons.
Pylon Appreciation Society
Really? Must be a British thing.
What? No, they're called cones usually, also traffic cones.. Googling "traffic" pylons will immediately direct you to "traffic cones"
You'll notice I said "too" as in "in addition too" and not "only".
Ugly.
