Most other CoD fans are casual gamers so they take a "If it ain't broken, don't fix it," attitude.
I really hate this mentality, it kills innovation. However, it is human nature to want to stick with what is familiar so its kinda hard to change that.

That said I hear great things about BF3 and really wanna try it, I was kinda disappointed by the Alpha. Didn't give the Beta a chance on account of being too busy and a little disappointed.
The final version is greatly improved over Alpha and Beta but their are still a few lingering bugs (its a DICE game) so if you can pick it up around the holidays after they patch it all up, its a blast.

I agree, BUT to me CoD is an outlier. I get pissed off when other games take the same mindset, but CoD hits a soft spot for me so I don't mind. The lack of change between MW2 & MW3 pissed me off, however, although I'm still somewhat content with what I see.

That's good; I was planning on picking it up for Christmas anyways. It does seem like a lot of fun.
imagine how much bigger the sale record would have been if it was on steam!
Too bad EA are dick bags
Umm guys, i would like to point out that there are only 7 billion human beings on Earth. The highest sale Activision could get from MW3 depends on the number of fans of COD they had. So technically, they may have over 8 million COD fans world wide. So that number cannot go higher if they have reach the maximum number of fans.
The number might drop if some fans or just casual players decided not to buy MW3.
Not everyone here plays Call of Duty or Battlefield.
the five million sales are from hardcore or casual fans of Battlefield.
But 7 billion is a far, farcry from 8 million.
Also statistically speaking every CoD game has outsold the last for years. Naturally, that means MW3 should hold onto the momentum that BO and MW2 had and launch with even greater sale numbers.
I think BF3 will sell more in the end.
COD's mindless running around in circles gunning people down gets boring after a while, especially since it's been the same thing 4 times in a row now, killing a bunch of dudes with a tank, helicopter, or RPG is indefinitely more satisfying than getting your millionth kill with an M16.
Plus, with BF3, if you ever miss running around in circles killing people with an M16 you can always just do team death-match and pretty much get the same experience as COD, BF3 is the ultimate game because it can appeal to both the slow and fast paced people.
For you maybe, but other people prefer making their millionth kill with a weapon.
Look at CSS, does anything ever happen in de_dust2? Nope, people just keep playing it all day long, doing the very same shit every singe round, and yet the game and that map are still popular, even though it's 7 years old.
Yeah CS is a perfect example of a game that never changes and always sells.
CS:GO adds even less than your standard CoD sequel, and it's still going to sell hundreds of thousands.

COD and BF sells millions, so, well, that doesn't sound very good.
