I hope they update the doom 3 with that.
I highly doubt it. Maybe a discount if you own it already.
mildly interested start with Doom 2 if anything, please
I'd suggest The Ultimate Doom instead of 2 to start with.
Maybe there will be a Doom 4 Teaser when you've finished the game.
I have to say, for it's time doom 3 had some really well done scripted sequences. Shame that the lights were always out.
i liked it that way just like cry of fear; you have to take out your flashlight to see and it works quite well
This is awesome, would have been nice if they officially implemented a coop system though. Playing Doom 3 coop is great fun!
I hope this has better widescreen support. I can't get widescreen to work for my regular copy, which is a shame since it was fun to play before I got a widescreen monitor.
Doom 3 was a good game, but it wasent a good Doom game
Yes it was. The enemy count, level design and pacing is equally comparable to the first Doom game. Most people then compare to Doom 2 which created the wide open areas that just threw in a ton of monsters. Anyways this is awesome news.
You can just use the various modernization graphical mods like SikkMod Plus I'll be really frank, Doom 3 hasn't aged well. The horror in it has been done to death with jump scares in games like FEAR. At least Doom 1 and 2 are fun on a competitive level. Doom 3's main focus was its amazing graphics to help with the horror. Even if the graphics are being improved, the gameplay is still stale.
I loved Doom 3. Dont kill me but i never played Doom 2 so this should be pretty cool.

Sounds cool. I do hope that the regular Doom 3 will get patched though, instead of you having to buy the BFG edition for the flashlight-on-vest and updated stuff etc. ;(

Do this with an updated Doom 2 and I'm sold.

If it's on steam, I guess I'll get it, since it includes both Doom 1 and 2....or wait, is it Final Doom and Ultimate Doom? or just 1 and 2?
Well, this one will probably have proper widescreen support without the messed up FOV and HUD, and may be optimized more. Plus armour mounted flashlight, But I hope that is optional. They'll probably reveal more closer to release.
Optimized? It's 8 year old. Surely you can play it fine.
Doom 3 does not strike me as a game that needs remastering, even by todays standards it's still not that bad.

as long as they fixed the annoying widescreen problem and weird mouse movement, I'll get it.
Man, I remember being 8 and playing through Doom 3. My dad always used to do the scary parts for me. :v:
I remember being 8 and playing... Doom
I remember being 4 and playing doom 1, or at least watching my dad play it.
I'd have to see how updated the graphics are since the video doesn't do a good job at portraying them, because they look quite the same and my 360 can still run my original copy of Doom 3 (which has both The Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 right on the disc).
Willits says id's recent acquisition by Zenimax, parent company of Bethesda Game Studios, has allowed his studio the freedom to take a risk like spending a year tweaking a near decade old game and releasing a 'director's cut,' an opportunity few studios get. Most games are rushed out the door, barely finished and then left to fend for themselves. For id, the chance to go back and right some Doom 3 wrongs, is an opportunity they've relished. Adding a new mission is just a bonus. The new Doom 3 "Lost Mission" will put players in the boots of "Bravo Team," the company of space marines players were originally sent to save in Doom 3. The Lost Mission begins with one of the Bravo Team members waking up in a Wraith kill room, and having to help a group of scientists shut down a teleporter to Earth, before the demons invade and ruin everything. The Lost Mission takes place concurrent with the timeframe of the Doom 3 story, and will help fill in some of the gaps, as well as offer players a few hours of new content. Combined with the tweaked, revamped and prettier Doom 3 and the two original Dooms, the total package will be, in John Carmack's words: "quite a long offering."

Optimized? It's 8 year old. Surely you can play it fine.
I had it running on my fiances old netbook on the lowest settings. Point in case, if your computer can't run Doom 3, there's likely something wrong with it. That is, if it's not 10 years old.
Looking forward to this. Hopefully we'll see 8:5 and 16:9 support. etter shading (because those transitions are painful!) and a good rebalancing that keeps some of the eerie atmosphere, but gets a bit more action-y, doom style.
I hope some fixes will be available for old buyers.
I hope some fixes will be available for old buyers.
Unless they change the workings of the engine itself or such, I wouldn't doubt that in the case they don't, modders would port the new things over to the original anyway. Also, packaging the first two Dooms with the BFG Edition's kinda silly since they're so cheap and everyone and their mother probably has them or so forth. Unless they're full-blown remakes using the Doom 3 engine. But probably not.

I hope they remaster Q2 and 4 someday too
