Isn't Chief totally mindfucked to the point that he just freezes himself and waits for another war?
In fairness that's pretty much what his whole life has been about. You can't really expect him to retire and get a part-time job as a greeter at space walmart.
Gender roles. Not to mention the family is a patriarchal concept that inherently breaks females into subservient positions.
Yes I'm sure the 2 meter tall steroid-infused space marine lady will suddenly become a helpless, subservient housewife the moment she gets married.
You'd like to see Devil May Cry with female characters, huh? I, too, think that would be great. We could get the guys who created the Devil May Cry series to develop it and everything! I'm drawing a blank on what to call it though. For some reason I just can't stop thinking about bayonets of all things...
You know, I thought a female Issac Clarke would be cool, then I realized... They did that in DS2.
The game isn't called Princess of Persia holy shit None of these characters need to be "fem flipped." Make a new fucking game with a new storyline that's either not gender reliant with customization (like Saints Row and The Elder Scrolls) or make one where the main character is female (like Mirror's Edge or Remember Me.)
how about instead of lazily recycling existing characters, just create a good female character there you go game industry, i solved all of your problems
That, or at least make use of existing female characters with proven potential to be awesome. *cough*Metroidgamethatisn'tshitlikeOtherM*cough*
The Splitter Cell setting was always more of a cheesy, macho, American action spy movie. I don't agree with flipping his character; however, approaching the setting from a different angle with a female character could prove interesting and marketable. Just have to avoid tropes.
splinter cell was anything but macho after they added personal traits to sam, him wanting to get revenge for his dead daughter is not a mysoginist fucking trope, it's the quite opposite it also doesnt paint women as defenseless just because sams daughter died [editline]21st July 2014[/editline] conviction is the only game that deals with ptsd and does so honorably
[sp]also it helps that his daughter didn't actually die but was rather kidnapped then held for awhile, then released iirc[/sp]
[sp]yes and thats why its a good story with beliveable characters I mean emotionally, the shit that sam does is impossible[/sp]
kind of a dick move to take points away from halo for the woman wanting to start a family??
Because it's almost stereotypical in the old way of thinking that women are only good for raising a family and should spend their entire lives at home working on that?
Because it's almost stereotypical in the old way of thinking that women are only good for raising a family and should spend their entire lives at home working on that?
Going against her conditioning and wanting to start a family (She doesn't have to be the housewife) is weak now?
didn't you read the page where she put on a holo-apron and screeched as a flood infested rat crawled into the room?
You know, I thought a female Issac Clarke would be cool, then I realized... They did that in DS2.
There's the dead space mobile game in which you play as a female character.
There's the dead space mobile game in which you play as a female character.
oh damn that one was actually pretty sick too because the fact that she was a chick was revealed at the end, which is a cool little twist that i didn't expect at all from an ios game.
oh damn that one was actually pretty sick too because the fact that she was a chick was revealed at the end, which is a cool little twist that i didn't expect at all from an ios game.
I fucking loved that game, the hallucinations were actually cool and affected gameplay.
how about instead of lazily recycling existing characters, just create a good female character there you go game industry, i solved all of your problems
That's very easy to say, but hard to do. What defines a good female character?
That's very easy to say, but hard to do. What defines a good female character?
The same thing that define a male/robot/whatever, a well written, balanced character.
Not to mention, for me, watching a woman stick a needle in her eye seems that much more intense, along with the multitude of death scenes in the game.
is this about some weird fetish thing or is the author just fucking retarded?
is this about some weird fetish thing or is the author just fucking retarded?
The author's saying the sight of a woman getting killed is far more "impacting" than a man getting killed.
Not only would this look great for team diversity, but it sets the stage perfectly for men vs women matches.
Is the author trying to champion equality by introducing violent sexism to tf2?
So why mention that chick from the Halo novel, and not mention Nicole (Spartan-458) instead: (besides the fact that shes in a game about boobs)
I know it's the typical comment, but really: The fuck is this bullshit.
After destroying their own cities and still ending up on the losing side of the war against the Locust Horde, the humans on planet Sera can't afford any discrimination.
I have heard rumors about the Gears of Wars comics. And if what I think they depict are what they depict than that statement is fucking hilarious. And by hilarious I mean oh god who the hell wrote this (the comic).
Daikatana has a fantastic female character whos strong and literally wants to leave everyone behind cause shes a badass why isnt everyone talking about how fantastic that was I mean a female character in an fps *mindblow* female arms!
Bridget them Bridget them all
Isn't this whole male-to-female character fiasco sexist by itself? Implying women can only be good characters if they are male ones with tits? Is equality really "men are better than women so women need to be like men"?
can we ban this bot already please? [editline]22nd July 2014[/editline]
How the fuck does her wanting to start a family lose two points?
because they are being incredibly sexist in an ironic way despite trying to be ~gender equal~
the same type of idiots who think starting a family 'degrades' women not realizing the difference between "wanting a certain lifestyle" and "being pressured by everyone to get with a lifestyle"
It goes from one extreme of being forced to be a housewife into another extreme of being forced of being a whatever it is they want you to be now as long as you're not housewife. Even if you want to be one, fuck you. It does not give women rights or empower them, it simply replaces them from one to another. I feel bad for women who want to go the more traditional route of having a family and being a housewife and get shamed to hell for it.
I know this article is dumb but I still think it would be pretty cool to have 2nd Hitman series with female protagonist. Instead of just dressing as a guards men constantly, she'd be dressing as a nurse, dancer and some other. Would be kinda cool to change Wigs too for specific roles, 'cause she's bald of course, and maybe the protagonist could seduce weaker guards to go somewhere or get access to places. I dunno. I still think it would be cool.

Dressing in uniforms? Male sex fantasy. Seduce guards? Again using sexuality/object status or some other silly reason. Where would the wigs come from though? Or would you shave dead/unconscious targets and glue their hair?
Changing already established characters for the sake of pandering to a particular demographic is a shitty move, but if a franchise that doesn't rely on a single established character (like GTA) decided to have it's next installment have a female protagonist, that would be a good idea.
