Franklin was supposed to be the straight man for all three of them. Was it a good idea? I'm not sure. He certainly wasn't the only one who played the role: Lester, Dave Norton, the psychologist, the redneck's cousin, occasionally Michael's son, but Rockstar clearly wanted the characters to be closely connected and that was Franklin's other purpose.
At least he gave me a free ascended weapon by the end of his history

Sera from Dragon Age Inquisition. Fuck ugly; terrible, trashy voice; and all around just a terrible character. Of any other character in the Inquisition she had no reason to be there and the only way to gain her approval is appeal to her messed up moral compass. Even Cole kind of grew on me a little bit, but with Sera I just wanted some moment to sacrifice her, kill her, leave her in the Veil. Kicking her off the crew does not suffice for how much of a sin she is as a character.

I literally couldn't finish Tribunal without resorting to console commands because at the very end, you're stopped from moving or attacking but he isn't, so your playthrough just stops there if you didn't kill him first.

Before your AA has time to react, this boxy chunk of fuck is zooming away snorking down half a bottle of vodka. Oh, wait, you sent an interceptor after it? That would've made Michael the only character resembling a straight man, it would've been way too much pure insanity. Him being "boring" in comparison was the point.
Michael is this sort-of-delusional washed-up ex-con who's responsible for everything going wrong in the first place, Trevor is Trevor, Frank's an ex-gangbanger with aspirations for more out of life. He's sort of the POV/audience surrogate in this absurd conflict between Trevor and Michael.
That's why he's the only person who can't die in the end.

I'm pretty sure I could write an essay on why Kai Leng is one of the most disgustingly bad characters ever designed. He's actually part of what I consider the worst, most tone deaf and nonsensical boss fights I've ever seen in a video game.
