Except the weapons right?
I do agree it's not pay to win in the sense that you can't pay for an ultra powered gun to beat all. The vanilla weps are usually what I use and I do just fine.
Maybe the devs decided that since they can't help it because of the publisher they might as well not take it seriously anymore?
Cosmetics, meh. I think it's unacceptable to squeeze money from people who've already paid a lot of money for your game, but it's nothing new.
Extra create a class slots? That's nothing new either but it's f2p mmo tier shit.

How will having more classes make you better than the other players?
I'm curious.

Neither of which effect gameplay to other people, so I don't see any reason to give fucks.
So not only did Activision piss off preorderers when they decided to not make Nuketown 24/7 like the preorder promised, now they're making it not an exclusive.
Did someone from EA invade Activision?
And thats not all. Theres microtransactions in it apparently.
its different because valve!
This... So much this.
Now we just need pizza camo.

I think it's because tf2 is free. It's not the same thing.

when did we discuss the pricetag? we're discussing microtransactions
he's right

Well, on one side, we got TF2 which is completely free...
And on the other, a 60$ game where you have to pay additional fees for whatever...
I think thats why people here see it as a cunt move for CoD and not for TF2, but then again lots of people here complain more about hats and the item shop in TF2 more than they ever complained about anything CoD related...

TF2 is free 2 play

Valve added microtransactions before they made it free though, and it still got praised.

Have you ever played TF2? Just about all the non promotional items are available for purchase, several of which are objectively superior to default equipment. BO2 so far has one purchasable weapon and it's not all that good.

Addressing this directly I don't have any real problems with this, making a preorder exclusive map was a bad idea to begin with and I don't see any issue with them selling cosmetic things like camo and cards, the only part of this planned system that could actually affect gameplay are the class slots (and possibly the sights but I doubt that they'll be useful judging by the silly nature of the rest of this) and even then not much, you get five slots by default and you can unlock more by prestiging so allowing people to buy them won't give them much of an advantage.

lol no, it got people giving out death threats on forums and countless bannings due to insane reactions.
it's not like people are one big blob with the same opinions
To the people talking about microtransactions and TF2, remember, we wouldn't be getting updates with new content as often if the game didn't make money for valve. Look at Alien Swarm, it's entirely free, no microtransactions of any kind, and it's the least supported valve game i've played, there's one official campaign mission, and the rest are user created. I can't even remember when the last bugfix was.
people were generally positively receptive towards it
Because it was a bunch of crap nobody other than people who just want to collect shit really cared.
CoD has maps as DLC.

This is a camo. It is cosmetic. You do not need to buy it. You also do not need to buy tf2 weapons. They are not cosmetic.
Bacon? Monday Night Combat ripoff 0/10
What are they for real? You pay 100$ for the game and all dlc just to end up paying even more for small time shit? Wow sad life for cod kiddies of course.

When were you forced to buy stuff like extra class slots and weapon camos?
jump on call of duty for cosmetic microtransactions

The general reaction of the micro transactions when they were released for TF2 was completely negative. TF2 is also now a free 2 play game and while I'm completely fine with these sort of cosmetic purchases. They're still releasing new sequels every year (That, on launch are usually buggy as fuck and near broken for several months) and also charging for maps.
Maps should never cost money, all it does is segregate your community and make people that can't afford their overpriced maps feel inadequate.
Guns I also feel shouldn't cost money, especially in paid games, as that's nearing pay2win territory, but if they keep them balanced then it's fine.

What is the target audience of this?
Someone who likes this kind of thing probably wouldn't be playing Call of Duty in the first place.

If I played cod often I'd totally get it for shits and giggles. It's silly and fun.
I have no problems with any of this at all. The bacon skin is only cosmetic isn't it, so that's the same kind of stuff we get from TF2 (which probably has more ridiculous things)? And hey, at least they don't let you buy weapons that you don't have with real money (take note Valve).
but you can get those weapons by other means?
Black Ops 2 is actually one of the better ones, at least in its storytelling. They actually did well in that regard. But the multiplayer is still the same unbalanced, ultra-grind oriented, dudebro shooter and is still crap.
dont people literally say this every time

I honestly really don't mind these cosmetic DLCs, the only DLCs that should exist.

This is bizaar. I mean I don't even mind this sort of thing. I'm actually rather fond of cutesy anime and anime esque things.
But why a skin pack? Why Call of Duty of all games? These are the last people I would think to be interested in this sort of thing, not to mention I was under the impression that this game was at least pretending to be serious.
It's not even well executed. It's just slapped on. It's not even painted on in a cool manner.
