the movement in it looks so unnatural, almost like spending lots of time in it would affect your posture.

I could imagine that a new medical diagnosis would be spawned from this, it would be called "Skyrim Syndrome"
valve's solution is best so long as we're talking about impractical space requirements
(pattern all over the walls, cameras use pattern to track movement allowing for no treadmill, and natural movement)
VR treadmills and the like are fucking stupid IMO. Hell, any kind of peripheral that requires a high piece of plastic to work is fucking stupid (guns, treadmills, etc). I would love to get my hands on a rift, but it'd take a lot of innovation to convince me that treadmills are the way of the future.

Why is there not more research being done into actually interfacing with the brain? It would solve so many problems. Hell, it'd even make stuff like Google Glass more usable (fuck voice commands seriously)
...For an omni-directional treadmill, why not just make a big bowl and rollerskates? They seem to be making this a bigger problem than it really is.
That platform looks very awkward. Seems responsive enough I guess but the amount of effort that goes into taking steps is just too much. You have to push yourself forward or backward and that is just clunky as hell.
We all agree that the platform is odd, but imagine having a refined, less commercial version of this. With things like doodle jump (yes its a thing) and guitar hero arcade machines being put in place, I think this easily could become common in an arcade. Pay $2 for a linear FPS and get 10 minutes in this machine and it would be awesome
It's pretty fucking cool, but unfortunately you look like a massive moron while using it
