Wow, dick move there.
I get that the devs had some issues with the publisher, but it's still kind of a shitty thing to do to sabotage it like this. Shame they couldn't work it out privately instead of ruining everything for the community.
Why would you do that? I understand that they may ow him money but sabotaging your own game will just bring everyone against yourself.

He's shitting down his own leg here by dragging all the players into this. Not to mention any publisher who is going to work with him in the future will be very cautious.
Yeah he's pretty much tanked his resume with this. I've never heard of a dev doing this, sucks he was in a position where he felt he needed to to get his point across.
He should have just stirred up lots of drama on the internet and pressure the publisher into giving in
I think he does the right thing and before you disagree with me... I have silly example. Let's say "Blizzard" rents servers for World of Warcraft, and one day they stop paying their servers provider or do not pay the full amount. Servers provider stops servers which seems normal. Whom would you blame "Blizzard" or servers provider? It's publisher's problem and they are one to be blamed, not the developer.

Its really easy to pin the blame on the developer in this situation. Sabotaging your own game probably wasnt the best solution.

In the situation you said, there is something that must be maintained (servers) in order for the game to keep working. That's not what's happened here, games don't just become unplayable once the original developers stop working on them. You can't blame the publisher when this is something that someone seemingly deliberately caused to get back at them, even if he is owed money that doesn't make it right for him to go and purposefully break the game.

The purchase button on Steam for this game has been disabled due to this.
Statement from Oovee http://www.oovee.co.uk/forum/topic/12604-official-statement-re-bug-issue-and-sabotage-allegations/#entry93224 Call me cynical, but I'm more inclined to believe some stranger who took a disassembler to the executable over the publisher's press statement.
We are aware of recent press speculation relating to sabotage of the spintires game by the lead developer Pavel. We wish to express our displeasure at this speculation and totally refute these and other recent allegations. It is a shame that some press are reporting this without talking to us, and even saying in some articles they are yet to talk to us. The situation on the bug is that we became aware of a major bug last week that caused the game to stop for some users. We have been working on this with Pavel since it came up. Progress on the next planned update has been suspended while we sort the bug issue. We believe we have now identified the problem and are now testing at this very moment a hot fix provided by Pavel, who is also ready to help further if needed. We're fully focused now on making the game work properly again, so please allow us to get this sorted first and we'll then be able to explain what has caused this and then carry on with future updates we have planned .
Sauce [editline]2nd March 2016[/editline] fucken ninja
This doesn't make much sense now. Is this just a bug, or is it intentional? Have sites have just reported that developer did it without any proof?
Have sites have just reported that developer did it without any proof?
That's what Oovee and the community mods claim.
Wholeheartedly support this to be honest -- the publisher gets punished because you can't buy it from steam anymore, and if you want to play it you can go pirate it (you've already bought it so its cool) or get the patch.
While I am on the side of the dev, he's also a moron. Let's not forget this is not the first time some bullshit like this has been pulled with this game. It seems like oovee is just ass fucking him as much as possible. He's moronic for ever going with any publisher to be honest.
