He receives an incredible amount of hate from Twitter, on his website, and all over the internet, and has done so for years.
when you treat people poorly and act like an asshole to everyone, people will treat you accordingly
It looks like Phil Fish• has put his fedora up one last time.
To be fair, he isn't mainly picked on because he's the ugly kid in class. He gets backdrafts because he tells people to choke on his dick, that huge swaths of the same media he's working in is unredeemable garbage, and that people who think counter to his opinions should kill themselves.
In all of those scenarios (because let's be fair, there is context to all three), it is understandable to see why he would snap and I can't fault him for doing so. But I won't defend how he snapped either. He has a damned short fuse, and could have done so much better if he bit his tongue and hired a voice for PR instead. It really is just one giant mess, all sides are at fault.
After having someone link his tweet to me earlier today, I thought it was a dumb ass "joke" he did. Now I'm sure of it.
If not his terrible rep he would me mildly successful.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Good, I wasn't going to buy it or Fez 1 anyway.
I was reading his tweets the other day and I could tell there was something up - I didn't like his game, and I'm not going to say he was a misunderstood genius or something but honestly I think the industry's lost someone here. The guy was misunderstood (as evidenced by the scores of people here just quoting obvious comments made in jest by him and getting all riled up about it), he was foul mouthed, he didn't shut up for anyone, and he took his sweet time making anything. But the thing is, he callled a lot of bullshit out in the gaming industry, he always spoke his mind, he had a sense of humour (albeit one that people didn't get a lot of the time), he hated and wanted to challlenge the status quo, and he shook up a lot of complacent people, even if it was the wrong way. I think that he was a much better guy than you guys give him credit for, and I'll go on record here saying that I saw a little bit of myself in him - good and bad. This is my opinion - you might disagree with it but respect it for what it is :)
the sudden cancellation of the game was triggered by a dispute he had on Twitter. "I f---ing hate this industry," Fish apparently responded. "It's just not worth it anymore," he told Kotaku in a statement.
What an idiot...
words
What a fucking bitch.
Really? You guys are treating this as a victory? I know a lot of people hate his guts (and rightfully so) but I wouldn't wish for his or anyone's game to be cancelled. Talk about anti-innovation.
i don't see why his team can't carry on without him. edit: kind of a stupid thing to say, sorry. BY CONTRACT his team can't do anything without him without giving him part of the profits for anything "FEZ" titled. but i can't see why HIS meltdown has to affect the rest of his team working on this game.

Still sad that on lots of sites i can still see a lot of people replying with "Why the fuck did these guys had to be an asshole to him". All my rage
He's like a little kid who throws a shitfit when he doesn't get what he wants.
What an idiot...
well no he's justified in both those comments; he's not justified for the way in which he's phrased a lot of the things he's said but he's justified in those comments definitely [editline]28th July 2013[/editline]
i think they should keep going and just title it ZEF
so many hidden meanings if you know afrikaans! Who cares, boring platformer. It doesn't need a sequel. Braid on the other hand...
Braid on the other hand...
Can't really see how you can make a sequel to Braid. The mechanics explored were stretched about as far as they could go, and the story was very, very closed-ended. [editline]28th July 2013[/editline] And, don't get me wrong, Braid was a fuckin' amazing game, but it's just not sequel-material.
Am I still the only person who was looking forward to Fez II? Yeah? Okay. :(
It wasn't "cancelled", he threw a hissy fit and said "I DON WANNA ANYMORE" If someone forced him to cancel it, it'd be a different story.
But now if he tries to pick it up we get to shit on him for trying to restart his DramaTrain.
But now if he tries to pick it up we get to shit on him for trying to restart his DramaTrain.
Double the fun!

It's not exactly feasible without his design input.
My guess is this is just a big publicity stunt. He's gone for now, and then he's gonna come back, rake in all the publicity and dick choking will ensue.
Best way to sum up today for Fish.
song is called Professor Pumplestickle in case anyone was wondering. Two steps from hell
Now someone should make a parody of FEZ within a year, call it something similar and profit out of it, while leaving "So long and thanks for all the Fish" in the credits.
And that's it. That's definitive and undeniable proof of Phil Fish being a genuine immature prick about everything. He isn't "trying to imitate Kaufman" or do any kind of smart humour, he is just a twat. Evidently he isn't cut out to actually operate in industry or maybe just lead any sort of creative team at all.
