When my friend switched to steam pipe for CSS he said all his maps and skins were gone and he got pretty pissed so...
which is fucking ironic since with HL1 they moved the folder and its contents (eg your mods and shit)
Perhaps they should have announced that custom mods may break, so you'd be prepared.
Huh, well that sucks. I thought Valve of all people would find some way for people to transfer/convert their mods.
Welp, now I feel like a huge dumbass for blatantly ignoring the new "custom" folder in the TF2 dir.
Which for some reason is in \commons instead of \accountname now, but I've always felt weird about Valve games having their own separate clubhouse anyway.
Valve published a FAQ article about the changes between non-steampipe and steampipe file locations, mentions how changed files would be moved into the custom (or download, can't remember folder), and how to package them up as a proper mod, etc.
I liked having per user folders (Much easier for cafes and such), but keeping the files in the same location does provide better functionality for multi-user systems I suppose.
What I want to know is how do I access the GCF files now? They just show up as an empty folder.

Like post Left 4 Dead; Go to "steamapps/common/%game%/%game directory%/%yaddayadda%_dir.vpk"
PS: Make sure you have GCFScape (Post version 1.7.1, that added VPK support. Latest is 1.8.4)
