Imagine a TES game with a combat system like mount & blade, or the jedi knight series
I want something similar to Zeno Clash (because my #1 choice is Dark Souls combat and it would be very, very difficult to do that in first person).
The combat needs helps, the story needs help, and if I see another draugr dungeon I'm gonna kill myself. I liked exploring Skyrim's world, but it becomes clear fairly quickly that the lake is mostly just a shallow puddle with some copy paste on the bottom. The Witcher 3 wasn't devoid of repetitive stuff (especially later into the game), but man the game felt fresh for a really long time. The quests didn't just feel like chores, and the world feels alive. The next elder scrolls should take some cues and improve on top of that.
M&B is sluggish janky trash, Jedi Knight might be interesting though
what's wrong with directional + speed % modifiers?
what's wrong with directional + speed % modifiers?
Nothing's wrong with that combo. The issue here is that M&B is that combo+slowness and clunkiness.
Please have co-op. I just want to play an elder scrolls game with my cousin.
Nothing's wrong with that combo. The issue here is that M&B is that combo+slowness and clunkiness.
Yeah, it was still really fun despite the clunkiness though. That, and M&B 2 *looks* like it's solved a lot of the clunk
Please have co-op. They'll take what looks cool from Borderlands, Minecraft, Rust, hell sometimes even Fallout when they're in the mood. If Bethesda put co-op in TES 6 or Fallout 5, I wouldn't be surprised.
I have no doubt they will make a great landmass

It takes a lot of development time away from content adding multiplayer to a game of TES's scale, and they prefer to have the content. It's possible their stance will change but I think their answer to the question was a separate game studio making ESO in an attempt to stop people asking for it :v:
Im not buying another fallout or elder scrolls game unless its made by someone other than Bethesda.
Im not buying another fallout or elder scrolls game unless its made by someone other than Bethesda.
I would be fine with an elder scrolls by them (ASSUMING THEY DON'T FUCK IT UP FURTHER) but I genuinely enjoyed New Vegas over fallout 4 and prefered that someone else did Fallout 4.
I don't know, it would be kind of interesting to see another developers take on Elder Scrolls.
Please be Valenwood.
As much as I dislike Bethesda, I wouldn't have anyone but them making mainline Elder Scrolls games. It's their franchise and represents their style as game designers. Having someone else do some kind of Elder Scrolls spinoff game would be cool though.
you guys are forgetting that they didn't develop eso we all know how that turned out. fact is, tes is bethesda's lovechild and only they can do it right.
M&B is sluggish janky trash
Imagine actually thinking this
lol people still say this crap with a straight face?
Yeah because, believe it or not, I thought it was shit. Is that an alien concept?
Yeah because, believe it or not, I thought it was shit. Is that an alien concept?
There's a difference between "fallout 4 was terrible" and "I thought fallout 4 was terrible".
There's a difference between "fallout 4 was terrible" and "I thought fallout 4 was terrible".
It should go without saying that it was his opinion. You shouldn't have to say "...in my opinion" after every time you make a subjective statement.
aye, but there's wrong and then there's absolutely wrong.
Imagine actually thinking this
The concept is fine. Directional attacks with damaged based on velocity and shit is great the execution is fucking awful, because it looks and feels like you're swinging your weapons underwater
There's a difference between "fallout 4 was terrible" and "I thought fallout 4 was terrible".
It is mediocre tripe though?
:snip: nevermind late and not worth it.
The concept is fine. Directional attacks with damaged based on velocity and shit is great the execution is fucking awful, because it looks and feels like you're swinging your weapons underwater
The weapons aren't light, dude. That, plus the armor you wear makes it even harder to swing those weapons. Call it a shitty gimmick but that's what I feel the devs were trying to go for.
The weapons aren't light, dude. That, plus the armor you wear makes it even harder to swing those weapons. Call it a shitty gimmick but that's what I feel the devs were trying to go for.
Sounds like a weird complaint to me because IMO if there was anything weird about M&B it was how fast you could accelerate a giant greatsword, not that it was "too slow". Compared to anime maybe? But it seems unrealistically fast compared to real life
The weapons aren't light, dude. That, plus the armor you wear makes it even harder to swing those weapons. Call it a shitty gimmick but that's what I feel the devs were trying to go for.
I'm not saying the combat is too slow, I'm saying that the execution makes the weapons look and feel murky and sluggish. You can do satisfying combat with slow weaponry, just look at Dark Souls. You swing plenty of weapons in that really slowly, but they feel great to hit your enemies with.
the execution is fucking awful, because it looks and feels like you're swinging your weapons underwater
I feel like we've played completely different games because in the nearly 1200 hours I have logged in Warband I've never once felt like I was swinging underwater (save for when I was ACTUALLY underwater mind you) Like the combat has never felt weird or unsatisfying, save in Napoleonic Wars when they decided to mess with it after launch.
Quoting these for future dissapointment
Please a new combat system, not the same boring shit.

Make the combat system closer to Chivalry and I'm in. Hell I'm probably in anyway but that would be the icing on the cake.

I just hope they have better magic combat. Khajiit wants to be viable mage...

I'm oddly excited at the prospect. Skyrim didn't quite have the excitment I was hoping it would, but the hope that maybe this will be something special makes me happy to see what they come up with.

As long as they go to back to dialogue boxes I'll be happy

New engine or bust. Kind of sick of playing reskinned Oblivion and a reskinned Skyrim and a reskinned Fallout 4.

New game engine, new combat system, a more character-focused story and I'm all on board.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T ATTACH THE PHYSICS ENGINE TO THE FUCKING FRAME RATE, I'D LIKE TO USE MY 144 HZ MONITOR. Thank you.

still just rip the combat from Dark Messiah of Might and Magic!!!

I want at least Dark Messiah comlexity of animations. If I swing my sword left, my enemy should be pushed to the left with a corresponding animation. Not just skyrim's *spray blood until he plays stagger animation* Hit reactions go a long way to making even mouse1 mashing more engaging.

I'm hoping they are a little less linear too. I'd love it if they had a handful of labyrinthian dungeons as high level content for people who like dungeon crawls, as well as lower tier ones that could be more handholdy.

Bethesda needs to take some more notes from popular TES combat mods like Deadly Reflexes. Things like timed blocks, dodging, and overall increased lethality would be appreciated. also, more varied and weighty death animations would be great too.

I really hope the side quests and politics contain writing that is actually better this time instead of racist vikings v. racist banana-men.

New engine and I'm definitely in.

Imagine a TES game with a combat system like mount & blade, or the jedi knight series

The combat needs helps, the story needs help, and if I see another draugr dungeon I'm gonna kill myself. Call it a shitty gimmick but that's what I feel the devs were trying to go for.
weapons in real life aren't that heavy tbh 8 pounds for a greatsword is like the heaviest i feel like what elder scrolls needs is more cinematic combat, like sparks when a blade is blocked even if it shouldn't make sense in real life, or when you hit someone they actually react to it like it's an RPG but it's also a first person RPG so it should entail some qualities of first person shooters more visual combat, like i feel like weapons should swing faster not because it's realistic, but because it's more visceral which fallout 4 had some of so i think tes 6 will probably be fine
Quoting these for future dissapointment
I've got an extra one for you: There's no way they'll fuck up the beginning because it's always been the same "you've been arrested but now you're getting free one way or another so go meet someone who'll explain what you need to do now that you're out of jail" beginning in some form or another and it's always worked out well.
