Its shitty that you think you need to thank them for not fucking you in the ass. Because before this they were fucking you in the ass. You'd play the multiplayer and get put up against by people uisng dlc only weapons and demons of superior quality because they paid extra money for the full priced game you already bought. They don't deserve "thanks" and you shouldnt be heartbroken that people dont appreciate status quo enough.
As someone who plays the multiplayer, I disagree with both statements. Most people seem to agree that the DLC weapons aren't all that great, and those who have access to them rarely use them. As for the demons, I wouldn't say that they're P2W either, because I don't see them as blatantly superior to the base ones, also, unless you're playing Soul Harvest, only one person can have them out at a time for 30-60 seconds during certain points of the round. I wouldn't say that the Season Pass is the best business model, but especially with the way they handle maps as I mentioned above, I don't think it's the worst.

It's the people who go on forums to defend companies trying to squeeze more money by fucking up their game design that give me a riot. Because you "Don't think its the worst" you'll advocate for it being mixed in with a game, and make weak ass excuses about them not being too strong. Time for a rant about pay to win game design. Even a weaker weapon being locked behind a paywall poses serious balance problems. As long as the weapon is meaningfully different there exists a situation, a matchup with a different weapon or a corner of a map where that weapon is well suited. An extra option in itself is an extra power increase, because a decent player will switch choose weapons based on what they think the other guy is choosing, and based on the map. Because the game lets you switch weapons between deaths, it comes into play per-death. In doom's case, the extra demons are absolutely much stronger than the base ones, i recall there being 4 base demons and 3 dlc demons so it nearly doubles your choices too. not that doom 2016's multiplayer is even good enough to warrant a high enough level of play for this shit but it's a real problem and needs to stay the hell away from multiplayer gaming in general. Defending publishers for pulling this crap only means it will happen more and more.
I completely stopped playing the multiplayer the day they added DLC weapons and demons. I might give it another go now. My only question is why is an update that adds absolutely no new content larger than most games? What the hell is wrong with idtech 6 that makes just changing a few variables into a 40GB update?
Actually they merged the SP/MP bases in this update, so it's replacing the old ones which is probably why it's so big. If you look at the folder after the update the size of the game is down like 20 gb
I find it heartbreaking that people are still complaining even though id/Bethesda has been doing stuff like this. I get it that people want singleplayer DLC blah blah blah but there are people like me who enjoy the multiplayer (even though we're not an especially large group) who appreciates id for continuing to support it like this to keep some steam in it, you can't just leave in a game's multiplayer component like you can with singleplayer stuff. Not only that, but they have given us Arcade Mode and huge improvements to SnapMap to the point where it before and after launch is like night and day. Besides, at this point they're better off making a sequel instead of an expansion.
Doom 3 had pretty entertaining DLC, and its MP was pretty much non-existent. I get that people like the MP of DOOM, and hell I am one of those people. I don't adore it, but I do find it enjoyable. But the DLC literaly had nothing special in it to even warrant a purchase. They probably didn't have that many sales, so they just added it for free. However, you shouldn't defend anyone at all when they pull p2w crap dlc. I honestly don't know if this is the case, because all I know that gets added are the demon runes and apparently a few weapons which I don't know how they work at all, but that by itself is a garbage way of running your game. Think CoD MWR and, well, all the other newer CoD games.

However, I wouldn't call it so bad that they're "fucking people in the ass" as the multiplayer remained perfectly playable without the DLC and they didn't have fucking lootbox microtransactions on top of that. Also, since they've now made it free I think that may be a sign that they know they screwed up.

That's how stupid you sound here. Just because it can be worse does not mean what we get is good. It's a false equivalence. It's simply less shitty than the worst possible situation. Which, as people have pointed out to you repeatedly, doesn't mean they should be praised simply for screwing over their customers less than the next guy. They shouldn't be screwing over their customers in any way period.
Neat, the game constantly crashes.
