Just because it's officially a sport doesn't mean it's considered "a real sport".

If you think they think about niche sports like chess and not mainstream big corporate cash cows like football when they say "real sports" then you are severely misunderstanding them.

The same way publishers and developers want games to be like movies these esport people want the games to be like football.

They're just clawing at whatever is closest related to what they do and apply the same tactics without any regard or thought given to if it even makes sense.
