EA is purposely limiting the game and the customer's satisfaction when they clearly do not have to. At all, I mean seriously.
It all boils down to money. DRM was implemented to ease the piracy of the game. (And failed horribly as all DRM does.) That way they make more money cause people will be forced to buy it. At-least in their own minds. It's funny because if they had left DRM out of the game, they probably would have made more money anyway...It's sad the current state that most of the gaming industry is in. Hell if they removed the DRM I'd even buy it.
I remember reading somewhere that SimCity was EA's last hope of survival.
I remember reading somewhere that SimCity was EA's last hope of survival.
Do you believe everything you read on the internet?
the region size limit was just so that people would buy a dlc for unlimited city size later on {{{{cunts}}}}
Do you believe everything you read on the internet?
More often than not. But I am very gullible.
I remember reading somewhere that SimCity was EA's last hope of survival.
I'd say Battlefield, FIFA, and Madden probably pull more weight.
Its hilarious, because if they didn't put in the City Limiters, their servers wouldn't be able to handle it and they would have to postpone the game by ~2 weeks i'd say. According to EA time anyway.
And we still have people defending EA for some insane reason.
I haven't seen someone defend EA for a while now actually..
I remember reading somewhere that SimCity was EA's last hope of survival.
They will always have their massive cash-cow sports games to fall back on if and when all their other franchises go down the drain. FIFA somehow seems immune to stagnation and criticism.
I haven't seen someone defend EA for a while now actually..
Well it would be getting difficult to justify their actions in any sane way.
Someone please remake this with SimCity.
Apparently the game is temporarily saved before they sync to the server, meaning it wouldn't be hard to just change the system to load from that temporary file and not delete it Considering that people are already close to finishing a crack, I wouldn't say it's that hardcoded
Source?
Source?
Video in the article.
Video in the article.
I didn't notice the temp sync, when was it? and also source to close to finishing a crack? Unless you mean releasing debug mode is the crack. Even though it's saved temporary on the disk, there is still work to be done to problem-free saving and loading locally.
Just look at that. Not playable offline? Not Moddable? Done in a week. All this bullshit was for absolutely nothing (As we all speculated anyway) But now it's right there, proven
3...2...1... "You misread our statement"
3...2...1... "You misread our statement"
Along with Origin-wide account bans for anyone caught using these Mods/Cracks, I bet
Along with Origin-wide account bans for anyone caught using these Mods/Cracks, I bet
Didn't they do something similar to Mass Effect 3 players who took advantage of a exploit/glitch?
dev: yep we can make these huge maps with no limitations publishers: make it locked so that we can make a dlc for it later on dev: b-but... publishers: do it i can't see it any other way
They will always have their massive cash-cow sports games to fall back on if and when all their other franchises go down the drain. FIFA somehow seems immune to stagnation and criticism.
That's because all it needs is updated rosters every year, I bet if they could get away with it they'd release a FIFA where you basically buy and sell players with microtransactions.
That's because all it needs is updated rosters every year, I bet if they could get away with it they'd release a FIFA where you basically buy and sell players with microtransactions.
If someone at EA read this it would happen. Maybe not seeing as there's more money in it for them with a full-priced game once per year, which fans p much HAVE to buy.
dev: yep we can make these huge maps with no limitations publishers: make it locked so that we can make a dlc for it later on dev: b-but... publishers: do it i can't see it any other way
"So after a long 4 week wait, we finally remove the city limits!......[sub][sub]For a low price of 29.99[/sub][/sub]"
Are we over simplifying this though? I know nothing about coding or how to make a video game, so how simple would it truly be to make the game save locally?
It's way too simple, but the only reason they're doing this shit is because of DRM. I've programmed a simple game before (notice SIMPLE) that saved everything through XML files. Likely not the best way to save progress etc., but it works better than having to retrieve connection, send all the information over the net, then load it into the game and vice versa. [editline]14th March 2013[/editline]
I'd say Battlefield, FIFA, and Madden probably pull more weight.
everyone buys fifa so it won't be any time soon EA crashes and burns
Fifa is EA's life support.
I remember reading somewhere that SimCity was EA's last hope of survival.
An incredibly niche genre which will probably make profit but nothing entirely too massive and which doesn't requite too much marketing. yeah simcity is probably a nice side project but no where near massively huge for EA. It's not the sims, various sports game, or BFnext.
EA's stocks now falling at terminal velocity
Only a few small issues with this mod, such as having to save only while connected. Servers inflation numbers of those in the server is another suspicious action too.
EA's stocks now falling at terminal velocity
The markets haven't opened yet FYI. But in a few hours, look here : https://www.google.com/finance?q=NASDAQ:EA
