I still want Geno.
They should make a pokemon fighting game before Smash becomes one.
Why don't they add the iconic starters or just all the starters each being a reskin of each other (eg Blaziken and Infernape)? Nintendo really need to step it up, to me the Roster is looking really meh so far (pretty much just what's already been in previous SSB games) and they have such a large amount of characters they can choose from to make playable characters [editline]10th April 2014[/editline]
I always wondered what they would do when they run out of characters to add. Looks like adding more pokemons is the answer.
They haven't ran out of characters, in fact I think they're being too sparing with which characters they add (LIKE WHY WE HAVEN'T HAD FUCKING WALUIGI YET) but I still think adding Pokemon is a good idea anyone who likes pokemon always has that particular pokemon they love and if Nintendo are going to be shit with other characters they can at least appeal to that area.
dude they added Villager and fucking MEGAMAN MEGAMAN
Well it's subjective, I feel meh about both I never really played any megaman games.

I like your title.
They should make a pokemon fighting game before Smash becomes one.
If you count Pokemon Trainer from Brawl as three separate characters, which most people do, then there are actually less Pokemon in this game than the last one.

[editline]10th April 2014[/editline] My point is there were more pokemon, although it's likely we'll see more, but 2 of them weren't at all viable as playable characters.
they should've added 3 starter pokemons (or their evolutions), each one from a different generation (preferably the first 3), as playable characters i have no idea who greninja is and i'm pretty sure nobody else who isn't a pokemon fan does either
i have no idea who greninja is and i'm pretty sure nobody else who isn't a pokemon fan does either
I don't understand your point
I don't understand your point
isn't the main selling point of super smash bros that it's an all-star battle kinda thing? greninja is a fairly obscure character for anyone who isn't a fan of the franchise
isn't the main selling point of super smash bros that it's an all-star battle kinda thing? greninja is a fairly obscure character for anyone who isn't a fan of the franchise
Greninja is the most popular starter from the current generation. It's not like Ice Climbers, ROB, any of the Fire Emblem characters, Pit, Ness or Lucas were well known to anyone who didn't follow their franchises before they were in Smash. Smash Bros isn't just about the well known characters, even Captain Falcon is more well known from being in Smash Bros than he is from his own games.

Or Lucas, which only japanese players (or people who heard about the Mother 3 english romhack) know about, had no problems being on Brawl. I think Greninja is far, FAR from being an "obscure" character.
i would never have guessed greninja was even a pokemon if i hadn't looked it up why

tbh was just hoping they'd ditch lucario, bring back mewtwo and leave the pokemon roster at that. greninja is a waste of a character
tbh was just hoping they'd ditch lucario, bring back mewtwo and leave the pokemon roster at that. greninja is a waste of a character
At first I thought it was Mewtwo from the silhouette of it. My next thought was: "What the fuck is a Greninja"
At first I thought it was Mewtwo from the silhouette of it. My next thought was: "What the fuck is a Greninja"
I thought the same honestly, that it really was Mewtwo returning. Suddenly Greninja. I spent the next few minutes laughing about how Sakurai successfully deceived the Mewtwo fanboys yet again.

If you know F-zero, you know cap. Falcon. If you've played Ice Climber, you'll recognize the characters. Pokemons are completely different because there's hundreds and hundreds of them. You'll really only know who Greninja is if you've played one of dozens of Pokemon games out there.
Okay it's 1 character and one of the most popular ones from recent games. They have iconic Pokemon already so they added one for the new people its not really worth getting upset over. Probably a fun character to play as too
Part of the reason that people don't recognize Greninja is because the game he came out in was released less than half of a year ago (mid-way through October). All of the other Pokemon characters came out in games that were released well over a year from the Smash Bros that they were in and thus had gained some traction before their inclusion. Game Freak most likely wanted a Pokemon to advertise for X and Y, and currently, Greninja is one of the most (if not the most) popular inclusions in those games. Lucario got into Brawl for the same reason: he's pretty much the most iconic Diamond/Pearl/Platinum character and had over a year in order to become known. Plus, keep in mind that Lucario, the next-most-recent Pokemon to be a fighter in Smash Bros., first appeared in Diamond and Pearl 8 years ago in Japan. It's not surprising that they want a character that is new to Pokemon. (The mega forms of Lucario and Charizard are also from Gen 6, but are still more representative of the generations they came out in)

And Ruby/ Saphire was before that, which I still remember playing when it first came out... Time goes by way too fast
