NO PREORDERS. Not even for Doom.
Going to leave these here. -videos-
these hurt to watch
NO PREORDERS. Not even for Doom.
To be fair being able to preload a game that's likely going to be 50+ GB is pretty damn good, if you're sure you'll buy the game anyway. Which doesn't apply to this game because it looks like a heap of trash at the moment but still.
I remember when AC: Unity came out and it actually cost more in Canada (AFTER accounting for currency exchange) than in the US. It was made in Canada.
Going to leave these here. -vids-
Wow, this looks like an attempt at remaking Quake III Arena in a 2015 engine, only everyone's speed is cut in half and gravity's turned up so high jumping is pointless. I've spent more money on Star Citizen (a game that is also not out as a finished product, yet) than I care to admit, so maybe I'm a little stupid with money, but there is a line in the sand and preordering DOOM is currently far over the other side of it.

The odds are not in its favor.
it's doomed
these hurt to watch
Watching an FPS being played with a controller is actually physically painful to me. It's so stiff and awful and then the massive auto-aim crutch kicks in hardcore when the reticle gets within a mile of an enemy.
Going to leave these here.
I've played the alpha, and yes, the game felt slow, but it wasn't like this, the guy here is playing with a controller, doesn't encounter and shoot anyone except for a couple of shots. The multiplayer had issues, but i still had a blast, it was a mess, in a good way, and the teleporter grenade is really fun to use. I agree that it's too pricey, i'll probably get a discount somewhere or buy the physical copy (possibly the limited edition if it's done well and worth the pricetag)
Why pay for this when you can play the new unreal tournament for free..........
They really should have made it more of an over-the-top, starship troopers-style game. Same style of music and 90s style levels, but with the characters like the ones in the comic. Obsessed with BLOOD AND GUTS!

Personally, I think that they shouldn't go all silly because of a small piece of content, that in no way represent the idea behind the game. The way they're doing now, is sort of a mix between the "horror" and the "brutal", from the original game and the comic/BD style, respectively.
I'm really digging it. The playstyle seems to focus on never stop moving or you're dead and that makes for a very... frantic game. Always running, fleeing but not, shoot everything, RIP AND TEAR. RIP AND TEAR. CHAINSAW EVERYTHING

It's not just a crutch, it's a crutched that's welded to you whether you need it or not.
Then just disable it?
I do but a lot of games don't give you that option.
Fucking hell I am in a inversity in another city and I get 50 per week with delays. The game is 60 euros. being a little kid collecting money to buy this shit was okay but now its impossible. i don't mind the price , I actually don't give a fuck for now but I will have to check it out when it comes out. I am really curious about this. Btw the videos have a halo 3 feel to them . Not talking about the concept but I just can't explain it.
What's the deal with every damned AAA game costing 60$? Yeah it's new and that but still is really really expensive for a game.
Dude, that's been a thing since at least the end cycle of the early to mid 2000s consoles.
Also the new main theme is... special [vid]http://webm.land/media/ICrK.webm[/vid] The version they used in the trailers was really good, this one feels like Mick Gordon heard what DICE did with the Battlefield theme and put At Hell's Gate through the same treatment. Im disappointed they didn't go for the gameplay direction of Doom 3 instead of going for the earlier games. It feels way too fast paced for me. I loved Doom 3 because of the tense atmosphere.

Then the project became an absolute mess and disappeared for eight years.
the doom 3 theme by tweaker fucking ruled. this just sounds like skrillex
I think the whole 'anything with a wub is skrillex' is kinda short-sighted, but I do get what you mean.
You can't chainsaw everything anymore because it has an ammo count
what
what
In the single player campaign, at least from what was shown at E3, the chainsaw is a one hit kill weapon that consumes ammo for each kill and locks you in a long kill animation.

It's been remixed to hell and back and it's used in so many videos talking about the franchise that I just can't stand it anymore.

It's not condemnation for the style or the riff, but the two shouldn't have mixed. I'm also kind of against hamfisting meaningless nostalgia anyway - at least not properly. If this song is intended to replace the original, it doesn't do a good job at that. I don't get pumped like I hear the original, which is fine, but then what is the point of remixing the original? If it's not going to accurately recreate the original identity, why not focus on creating its own? This has always been my criticism of all of the revisits in movies as of late, and it's crossing over into video games now. Fortunately, I think the DOOM singleplayer is otherwise crafting its own identity in a way that's enticing enough to play. [editline]19th December 2015[/editline] They could have revisited a different song - my favorite song from DOOM1: You could really make that shit super ambient and creepy for the menus and then just keep the bombastic sound for the trailers.
Wouldn't DOOM work out way better as a horror game? I played DOOM but I never liked it too much seeing as it never had much of an atmopshere compared to the PS1/N64 versions. DOOM 64 is so fucking scray
DOOM 64 is so fucking scray
Would be a good candidate for a re-release as well.
The theme should've been a remix of the endlevel music.
