They're more to try and deal with daft shit a studio is doing and removing inconsistencies in the frametimes. Any boost in FPS from a driver level tweak is good, of course PUBG Corp putting extra work in would be better. Though they are getting around to it slowly. The most recent patches tried to fix the abysmal framerate in the early game by simply reducing the number of players on screen at once because who'd have thought, rendering 100 players on a plane is a bad time.
