Ava DuVernay To Direct Jack Kirby’s ‘The New Gods’ For Warner Br..
After making history as the first woman of color to helm a $100 million-plus live-action film in A Wrinkle In Time, Ava DuVernay will continue to play in the event film sandbox. She’s closing a deal with Warner Bros and DC to direct a big-budget screen adaptation of The New Gods, the creation of revered comic book impresario Jack Kirby. The studio has set Kario Salem (Chasing Mavericks) as the writer; he’ll craft the narrative and work closely with DuVernay
I don't know, I guess. Kinda sad to see the whole Fourth World get pulled into this pile, but I am unfamiliar of this woman's work.
The only notable film I know from DuVernay is Salem. She also directed Wrinkle in Time but that's only getting middling reviews
I'm comfortable writing off Warner Bros DC at this point
as long as darkseid is not left in the hands of whedon or snyder i'm happy
I was thinking a bout a different Kirby and was left very confused.
A++ to the Wrinkle in Time clothing crew those costumes kicked pure ass despite the milktoast story overall.
Who doesn't want to see Oprah turn into a giant woman tho?
And here I was hoping they would leave Kirby's work out of the live action stuff.
Well, Inhumans managed to sidestep mentioning the name of Blackagar Boltagon, so we'll see how this movie fairs with a guy named Scott Free.
