Dan Harmon Confirms "Rick and Morty" Has Not Been Renewed for Season 4

I wanted to see more of the citadel after Evil Morty's coup, really good expisode
That's weird as shit. I was under the impression R&M was pretty huge. shame.
It is. We still dont know the reason as to why the next season has not been renewed, and I doubt its due to lack of popularity.
Maybe the story arch for the next season was lacking? The whole "in many ways it'll be like the first season" thing makes you wonder where they were gonna go with it, Morty has effectively left rick whats rick gonna do? Get drunk and kidnap Morty then Beth teams up with evil morty to catch rick only to be double crossed and the family has to team up against Evil Morty and things are going well till ricks nihilism puts the whole group into trouble and they have to rely on friends to save them and morty admires them but rick gets drunk and falls out with them causing some more trouble
Well, shit. I was wondering why there hadn't been word of a new season. This kinda sucks, R&M is one of my favorite shows right now. Last season wasn't mind-blowing or anything but it was still fun...
Looking at Community, Dan Harmon sure knows how to snatch failure out of the hands of victory.
Easily the best episode of the season
Season 4 of Community was pretty widely derided as being dumbed, awkward, and considerably less funny. It was like a cheap caricature of the previous seasons, and that wasn't lost on the actors, fans, or showrunners after Harmon returned.
Season 5 episode 1, wherein Harmon was reinstated as showrunner, even features a not-so-subtle conversation between the show's main characters about how they've all lost their ambitions and depth, and become cartoonish caricatures of who they once were, especially over the last year. The characters all agree that last year was awful, and blame it on a "gas leak," seemingly too embarrassed to discuss it further.

Nope. CN does not outright cancel shows, because then you have to start making royalty payments immediately, if appropriate. By going on "indefinite hiatus" unless you have pre-existing contract stipulations, royalties take much longer to appear, and often only after lawyers get involved.
"Wow I sure am happy that that thing that you like is going away. I don't personally enjoy thing, so I want it gone"
I'm never sure why people cheer for others losses.
I know I'm called an asshole if I do that
Don't let an ironic minority of people ruin your experience, why dya care what other peeps think?
Speaking of Adventure Time, with it ending and now this news about R&M, Justin Roiland's more beloved characters are just not coming back.
I really hope he gets to voice another main character soon, his delivery could sell any comedy cartoon.
Season 3 was the first and only season Harmon was c
It's kinda stupid to day the show suffers from bad fans when bad fans are a loud visible minority's of every fan base.
Why care about the fanbase? I've liked lots of shows with shitty fanbases. Just don't engage with them, you know? If you wanna chit chat about the show, do it with people you know aren't going to be weird, creepy, or obnoxious about it.
How many of those annoying fans actually existed, anyway?
You're welcome to dislike things but I'm not going to really understand the perspective of "I don't want these people to have the entertainment they like because I think it's cringy" any time soon.
There's plenty of things I don't like but I don't really want the people who do enjoy those things, to lose those things.
A small handful of mcdonalds assaulting mouthbreathers, some stupid twitter users who criticized the shows 3rd season for having female writers, but all in all, a tiny, tiny fraction of the fanbase.
But they represent the entirety of the show/fanbase to people like Berman, or if you go to hellholes like Kotaku, it represents the entirety of the fanbase there as well.
Maybe it's because I don't leave the basement enough but it seems that the 'cancerous R&M' community' problem has been vastly blown out of proportion. In fact, my only exposure to it has been through the anti-R&M circlejerk, which itself is getting quite tiring.
How often do you actually have to "bear witness" to the worst fans in any personal context? Seeing stupid people on twitter isn't a context that should bother you
I've never mentioned Rick and Morty to anyone at my work unprompted. I've never quoted the show in any context other than doing a "Oh jeeze" voice occasionally
I don't get the hatred people like you have over what amounts to internet trolls and idiots that you normally just sweep under the rug
Where do you live, hell?
I live in Vancouver.
I've never heard a SINGLE person quote the show.
I've seen one guy wearing a R&M Shirt. Once.
You're exageratting or you're in a particularly cloistered bubble.
As I said, at least a couple of hundred thousand. At least based on how the Adult Swim live stream had at minimum 30,000 people viewing the stream every Sunday during season 3. And 6-10,000 of those spamming the stream chat with "this show sucks, put on Rick and Morty", "air the fishing(the chat censors fuck to fish as a gag) episode already" and as many r&m emotes as they could fit.
No but I don't live very far from SFU, I don't have to deal with weird 19-21 year olds anymore so I could be isolated from the worst elements of the fanbase, but the only people I know that like the show are regular people who also like other things.
I don't know any "super fans" of the show, and I'm personally just a huge fan of the art style and voice acting and I love stupid over the top gore(I used to make gore and blood effects out of practical materials for films so...) and it kinda sucks to have a good show be dragged down, and wished death upon because of some spergs who ruin everything good about the world.
As soon as something is popular, people ruin it. I try not to let them, personally.
It's almost like every stream that exists gets broad-phased blasted by viewers, as it is the culture of streams
Ye Im not keen on the scifi, frankly it's science fantasy, or just straight up fantasy. Also lotsa of it is bs or making assumptions (like infinity universes meaning infinity possibilities) and sadly people repeat that shit as gospel.
However, the philosophical stuff is great. Like the micro universe one, there is a part where a guy in an artificial universe realises there is no meaning and his only purpose is to power a car, rather than dispair he is empowered, positive nihislm, rarely portrayed. Then this is subverted again where he asks out a girl but gets rejected. Or the stuff about you're free to choose your life and it diesnt matter providing its your choice. Really good existential stuff. And some ethical things too. Get over the scifi and try hard edge lord humour and its rly good
Fair point. It was still really annoying to the regulars who were completely aware that it wasn't the free Rick and Morty stream and wanted to watch a Fishcenter replay, or that Tim And Eric special while chatting.
Oh, I totally get that. I hate twitch """culture""". It's just also not an exclusively rick and morty thing.
I came from adventure time before r&m,love it. I feel like the philosophy is different though, adventure time has stoicism and stuff where r&m seems pure existentialism. But ye at is pro
