Not really true tbh. TV still gets watched, more or less depending on the demographic. And even on the internet, pretty much any company they make deals with to provide the content will be likely reporting them metrics.

Except also not. CN publishes their metrics, including "Internet buy in" a week after air date on their bumps and have done so for years in both coastal markets.

I wouldn't be surprised when they'd to a new April Fools episode and go on with Season 3, calling it a mid-season pause. That'd be a half truth - season 4 isn't confirmed, but they'd be still making new episodes.

God, I wouldn't even want to imagine the fandom meltdown if it didn't get a new season.

I dunno, it seems like Adult Swim has been pushing Rick and Morty as one of their trademark shows for the past couple years, this would surprise me. It seems more likely that they'll just pull something like they did with the premier of the last season and run the new episode out of nowhere and then REPEAT IT FOR 5 HOURS AFTER THAT PUSHING BACK THE SAMURAI JACK EPISODE FUCK YOU ADULT SWIM

Is it possible that Dan Harmon wasn't really giving the whole story here? Maybe they could still be in negotiations for more money per episode. I just can't imagine CN would get off the rick and morty wagon.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become The Simpsons I'd love for S4 of Rick and Morty to happen, but only on Dans terms tbh, if it's something he didn't want to do I can't see it being anywhere near as enjoyable. If AS are being absolute fucks about buying into another season then that does suck, but at least he's not being forced to continue to the show (I pity the alternate universe where this is the case).

We still have the comics. I have the first two compilation books and they're pretty good.

Honestly the people who won't shut up about how much they hate obnoxious Rick and Morty fans are significantly more annoying than the fans they complain about. I really doubt it's due to the fanbase that it hasn't been renewed yet. I have a little theory as to why they're taking so long. In Season 2 at the end of the finale Mr. Poopy Butthole (god it feels weird saying his name) says it'll take "a year, a year and a half" for the next season to show up. Season 3 ended up airing a year and a half almost to the day after the finale aired. PB was only a day off. In Season 3 he said it'll be a really long time, and basically just said he doesn't know, and that he might have a long Santa beard. So what's happening now? The creators keep saying the exact same thing, and it hasn't been renewed despite the massive critical acclaim for a late night adult cartoon. I'm pretty sure they're just fucking with the fan base.
