Are they going full Youtube and trying to be "advertiser friendly" or something?
They were encouraging people to kill themselves, shit yeah it got banned.
A few of those are understandable and should have been long banned but I wonder what is up with the whole gun banning. Especially after YouTube also went after them. Not that I really mind it, its just weird. Almost the only logical explanation might be ad networks. They are pretty much the only force on the internet that can get those giants to move.
Looks like they're dead now
It's not the only logical explanation. You have to understand that these same people most likely think video games make people violent.
I don't get the mindset of these people, if its not hurting anyone why can't you just leave well enough alone. Maybe I'm just salty they keep banning airsoft stuff on reddit, /r/airsoftmarket was actually pretty useful if you are into the hobby.
Surprised to see the WatchPeopleDie section survive this, probably the darkest section of the website.
are you just guessing, or
Silence, if Reddit admins believed videogames make people violent, they wouldn't be banning r/GunDeals while leaving r/GameDeals alone. They're the same thing; both essentially couponing communities that aren't actually facilitating user-to-user sales. Meanwhile, despite bullet point #2, prominent subreddits discussing the buying and selling of illegal drugs are still up. They banned r/airsoftmarket, but subreddits for paintball sales are still up. They might be making some effort to crack down on use of Reddit for illegal transactions, but some of this is clearly cultural policing to placate advertisers.
Man I didn't even know r/beertrade was a thing. That's a shame, sounds like a great way to try local brews from other states.
Why would it get banned? It's not showcasing illegal content nor is it leading to harassment.
Neither did r/gundeals, r/beer, fucking what, r/cigars, or any other subs that were purged that were relatively innocent. The only reasonable explanation is that they're trying to take the moral high-ground of LOOK AT US, WE'RE GETTING RID OF BAD SHIT. WE'RE THE CHAMPIONS OF MORALITY and then failing at that. That being said, is there a comprehensive list of banned subreddits? Something like a sub of horse vaginas is perfectly reasonable to ban, but a subreddit about good/bad alcoholic drinks?
oh fuck oh fuck i'm gonna be poor
https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/8649ne/reddit_bans_using_reddit_as_a_marketplace_or_to/ here's one, facepunch did a weird thing when I copy pasted the link sry. I don't know if it's comprehensive though. r/sanctionedsuicide was part of a different ban wave.
I'm surprised /r/dnstars was banned since it was exclusively focused around harm reduction & funding anonymous drug testing via WEDINOS / Energy Control.
They seriously fucking banned an AIRSOFT subreddit. I'm fucking stunned. How goddamn stupid are these people?
At least the porn subs are safe. For now...
Aww, r/megalinks and its subsubreddits are bailing out. A lot (almost all) of it was warez, but I found some high-quality abandonware and public domain stuff that I couldn't get on archive.org there.
They went to readonly, a whole lot better than private at least
Was darknetmarkets legal markets that just happened to be in the darknet? because if it was reddit are a bunch of morons.
Oh I guarantee those are next, there is plenty of fetish content on reddit that will quite likely be removed with these policy shakeups.
I hope they don't ban /r/FashionReps
This FOSTA bill is really causing some caos, Craiglist just followed suit and started baning as well.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-21/youtube-bans-firearm-sales-and-how-to-videos-prompting-backlash Looks like Youtube is joining in.
A man who I once called a friend and who's since completely burned all bridges with me was a frequent shoplifter and, in hindsight, probably somewhat of a kleptomaniac as well. It became legitimately embarrassing (and dangerous) to go out with him because you'd go in a store to check something out and five minutes after leaving he'd hand you some random trinkets he stole.
I think some of this subreddit banning shit is getting a bit dumb
It feels liberating being on facepunch with all the shit going down on Reddit and YouTube. You don't have to watch your every step and question what fits the definition of the rules.
We don't have Tesco here in the US. Your fiction is slanderous and invalid.
