• Obscurus Lupa of Channel Awesome Accuses Nostalgia Critic of Sexual Harassment

Allegedly he's still best friends with Doug and Rob.
Even back then I always thought her videos were better than Doug's. She'd always been a lot more analytical compared to the Nostalgia Critic, even back when she was still mostly trying to mimic his style, I feel. When she started contributing to the site I very quickly stopped watching Nostalgia Critic. Still watching her videos today and her new stuff is really fantastic.

She kind of went off the deep end herself though, I think she even got arrested last year.
Maybe Sexual Harassment is the name of a real human villain who is just brilliant at framing celebrities while getting away with his crimes.
being publicly intoxicated is far from the deep end
Plus he's been on the site for ages. I totally understand if leaving the site is a really hard decision for him at this point.
Ironic how all these people are now flocking back to YouTube. It's like nothing changed.
I believe him on the split inside Channel Awesome during the whole Gamergate controversy. Dan Olsen was the fucking worst seeing as how he viewed and downloaded CP and planted it in public forums like 8chan to “catch out” Pro-Gamergate users.
The fact that he tried to download and re-distribute child porn should get him arrested for intent and put onto a list.
I did some basic research seeing as there's clearly two different versions of the story, one involving Dan Olson actively distributing and obtaining CP, and the other involving Dan Olson's attempt to prove 8Chan's complicity/complacency in hosting CP, and what I found is that the latter seems like a far more reasonable conclusion than the former for a few reasons. Namely, Dan Olson's investigative journalism was, in the majority, a matter of browsing 8Chan and cataloging every instance he ran across of Child Pornography being shared or talked about in a positive manner. The fact the screencaps had to be significantly blurred to avoid legal issues is in of itself a difficult thing to ignore when it comes to the legitimacy of these claims, but 8Chan is hardly known for being the most respectable of websites, and what is left of the blurred images is enough to tell that shit is in fact pretty fucking wild. Lindsay's claims in the document that Dan Olson is the target of a smear campaign set up by salty pedophiles seems to make quite a bit of sense considering that: Dan Olson did find CP and extensive talks of CP on 8CHAN. While he may have set up honeypots on the forums, these honeypots were only part of an already massive system and he found way more evidence than he could ever plant. Not one major piece of media has reported on Dan Olson being a pedophile, nor has any authority actually attempted to arrest him on these supposedly damning charges. The fact that every last piece of information I can find surrounding Dan Olson supposedly being this Machiavellian asshole who uses CP to fuck over forums is confined to websites like the lolcow wiki and 8Chan itself is also highly suspicious. If my research is correct, then 8Chan and its supporters essentially went into full damage control and first attempted to send the authorities after Olson himself for "distributing CP" under the guise that he was a pedophile, and then upon realizing this would involve 8Chan itself seeing as no investigation about CP would actually ignore the website if the claims are that Olson openly distributed CP there, they changed their discourse and went for "this isn't CP"/"Free Speech" arguments. Furthermore, and that's perhaps the most damning aspect of this shitshow, Dan Olson never once mentions gamergate in his entire paper, solely focusing on the toxicity on 8Chan and its more than unhealthy obsession with talking about young girls and their fantasies surrounding young girls, yet a majority if not all of his detractors have, at least at first, attempted to claim the investigative journalism and the following article Olson put together was in fact a ploy to "destroy" Gamergate by having authorities look into 8Chan. Also a worthwhile note is that the content which Dan Olson found on 8Chan is not hardcore stuff, that's how the website continues to operate: his article is, in great parts, an attempt to prove that 8Chan is skirting the line between what is and what is not child abuse in a variety of ways. He never uploaded raw hardcore CP, and his findings were all extremely distasteful and the result of an underlying abusive industry. His article even includes a very justified criticism of how the US federal statutes defining CP are insufficient as they draw the line to hardcore sexualized behavior, and everything beneath that gets a pass. If you have strong guts I invite you to actually go and read the article itself, and then find out for yourself whether Dan Olson really is a creepy CP distributor who wrongfully framed 8Chan or if 8Chan really is a shithole that drools on pubescent boys and girls.

Oh god, the Amazing Atheist. That guy is a complete knob.
Yea, But he changed his name for mostly his real name for monetization reasons.
I started watching it and started to think that he seems to have mellowed over time, but god damn does he still like to talk.
Well to be fair talking is what makes him his fuggen' money. So he better.
A lot of people we have grown up with during the Youtube explosion of the mid-2000's have really had this trend of let downs.
Nah but like, he just goes on and on and on about practically nothing. He's like the youngest old man I've ever seen.
I feel like this is an issue that is more prevalant with the rise of youtube and popularity of independant content creators that have gained the status of celebrities. At some point a lot of these creators got way to popular with their endearing low budget style which was quite unique back in the day but at some point you got to expand and handle it like a proper business instead of half-assing your content. Some content creators that I liked didn't really surpass that barrier for me because they were still stuck with their amateur-ish performance despite having attainted quite a big following. You got to increase the quality and manage the business in a professional way. Personally, I had a similar experience with a school project that got way out of hand and I felt quite overwhelmed because I did not have any expertise in certain areas, in the end the entire quality of the event that we planned suffered because of it. Although we didn't have any sexual harassement but some of the business practises of Channel Awesome just seem horrible, especially the film shootings.
I don't know, I know it's not exactly the biggest crime, but based on the event itself (she basically berated the police and was totally out of control drunk) if one of my close friends or relatives did something similar I'd be incredibly concerned about what's happening with them. I'll admit it's subjective from person to person what public intoxication means to an individual but to me it's pretty damn serious.
People go on benders with friends on occasions, now if she was constantly getting DUI's then you'd have a point. But a one off is not that too uncommon for a lot of people.
Yomarz has bailed. CA's done to 11 producers that aren't Doug.
I wonder when the website will just shut down.
Yeah that's true, I just think the part where she was banging her head against the police car window and they had to restrain her feet so she wouldn't hurt herself was a bit concerning, but it only happened one time so whatever I guess?
everyone has bad days. when stuff becomes a pattern of behavior, that's when it should be concerning

I like how even he points out that the tweet is already out of date, and it's only a couple of hours old.
That's fair, I'm only saying it was pretty concerning when it happened.
Bumping this thread because Channel Awesome finally released a response, as expected it's blame shifting and denial http://channelawesome.com/our-response/
