Could be people injured from a stampede
What??? Not everyone wearing a headscarf is a muslim or trying to imitate a muslim. Not to mention there's tons of different kinds of headscarves, not all of them even cover up all your hair. It's kind of weird of everyone immediately gravitates towards the "headscarf" bit of the news article out of everything.
A mass shooting at the YouTube headquarters of all places was caused by a tragic love story? Sounds like bullshit
Allegedly, someone on the /pol/ board of 4chan made the threat yesterday. /pol/
Police say 4 victims. One dead person with self inflicted gunshot wound.
To be fair, I don’t think skin color has ever stopped ISIS from recruiting dumb people on social media to commit acts of terror on their behalf. But none of this is really relevant to the fact that people just got shot, and that it’s still far too early to be speculating about possible motives.
To the point, something like this should not be contributed to someones race/gender/color/religion. Mass shootings like this are normally from people who are mentally ill. News agencies only use race/gender/color/religion to further their agenda.
The NRA has become a right-wing propaganda outlet that grooms radicals by appealing to their paranoia and racism. Given the timing of the shooting (following YouTube's crackdown on gun channels) it's not at all unreasonable to speculate that YouTube has become a target of extremist violence. There's no point in speculating on the shooter's motive until we have more information, but neither should we dismiss the possibility of far-right extremism, much less get condescending about it.
This one is sounding like domestic violence, muder suicide at the workplace.
Because it's sounds like bullshit. A woman who probably had mental issues had a bad break up, buys/nabs a gun, sneaks into youtube HQ, shoots four dudes and then herself? That is PSA levels of stupid logic.
It's really horrific hearing about all these US mass shootings
Let me clarify if I sounded like I was being insensitive to the situation. Context to shootings like these is everything. I'm just saddened by the fact that the news is going to use it to further their agenda as opposed to viewing it for what it is.
weird cause we've had a few shooting where that's the straw that breaks the camels back, so to speak don't see why it sounds like bullshit.
Is Youtube HQ is going to be demonetized now due to gun content?
Murder suicide is incredibly common. And workplace murder is also a lot more common than people may think. This one happens to be at a high profile business. https://thinkprogress.org/getting-murdered-at-work-is-incredibly-common-in-the-u-s-4caf76dfe4cb/ More than 1,200 Americans Die in Murder
Logic doesn't apply to those people. This type of murder/suicide is not that rare. It even has hit some a YouTuber before that got killed by a fan who thought only he should have her. (Christina Grimmie) Slightly different situation but as I said it is not that rare.
I don't know, it just sounds too far fetched, I guess
Are you surprised that people are stupid? People do strange things, and once someone is damaged enough and has reached the level when they are planning to not only kill someone else but themselves too, its not much a stretch to think other people will get caught up in it. And as another user pointed out, murder/suicides aren't uncommon.
I wish it was.
No i'm not surprised that people are stupid, but it's annoying that the theory that people are grabbing onto right now, outside of the normal 'iz radical islum' stuff is "it was a bad break up".
You're right, it's pointless speculation.
There's no point in speculating on the shooter's motive, but let me shove in this bit about there being a possibility of far-right extremism multiple times in my post. That was beautiful, well done.
If the shooter went in there to kill people because they were a right wing gun nut or radical jihadist or something like some are assuming there would probably be a lot more than 4 injured people. Someone with that intent is going to be well prepared and ready to kill people. Now that the police have commented, with the information currently available it's safe to make an informed assumption that the person went in there with specific target(s) in mind and then killed themselves.
Am I right in believing that there are no fatal casualties except for the gunman herself? That's a huge relief if true
4 injured, 1 critical, 1 serious, 2 non threatening with "gunshot related injuries"
'Twas my first thought when I heard of it. We may never know, though, if the shooter truly did get brought down.
I've got a two year old, will be starting school in a few years. Saying I'm horrified doesn't even begin
Just because the media covers these shootings so heavily, it doesn't mean that you need to worry so much about it, practically speaking at least. Not that this should make you feel any better but kids are much MUCH more likely to die in a car accident or from disease than from a school shooting. We should care about school shootings and do everything we can to stop them, but there are plenty of places more dangerous to your kid than a school.
Where's everyone getting the headscarf bit? I've just been hearing she had a hoodie and a bandanna.
There's no point in speculating on the shooter's motive, but let me shove in this bit about there being a possibility of far-right extremism multiple times in my post. That was beautiful, well done. What I said was that it's not an unreasonable possibility given recent events and that while we shouldn't jump to conclusions, neither should we delude ourselves into thinking that right-wing extremism in the U.S. isn't a serious and growing problem. It is, and no amount of condescending internet slang (or petty sarcasm for that matter) will change that fact. Ignore the threat at your own peril.
