In a move few saw coming, Lawbreakers suddenly shuts down

IIRC that was based on the game having a few public tests available, that declined in popularity really fast.
By the way is the game even shutting down? The OP doesn't actually seem to indicate that in any way unless I'm misreading? It literally says that they will continue to support it in its current state, which probably means keeping the lights on and patching severe bugs that come up.
I think there just isn't a huge playerbase in general for these super high skill-ceiling arena shooters. So many games already tried that, and there wasn't one in recent years that really succeded.
Not gonna lie, I had a bit of fun with it before the playerbase completely died off. Kinda sad, but expected really.

Game looked interesting but completive shooters haven't appealed to me in years. I had no idea who Cliffy B was but seeing his comments just irritated the hell out of me, he's up there with Randy in terms of insufferable people. Sucks that the game had to go down.
And also talked a lot of shit about Xbox, which was stupid, considering where his career began. I know a lot of people who got turned off by all these statements.
Law breaker's character / map design was hot fucking trash. Either disgusting or so bland and uninspired it'd put you to sleep.
What? Maybe that's where a new, console-exclusive fuck-PCs era of his career began, but a lot of the games people give a shit about him for were released before he'd even put a single game on Xbox.
If anything, depending on your opinion of console-exclusive spinoffs and low-mobility cover shooters, you could say his career started dying on the Xbox.
That's not even the worst of it, look at these fucks. Other than the size difference, they're nearly indistinguishable in a game where you're moving super fast. Like. That + muddy colours is just baffling to me

a good character design tells you how they will play:
this guy has a gun that clearly shoots grenades, he's holding a trigger so he must have some sort of remote trigger device, and he has a small body compared to the other characters in the game so he must have quick movement.

this guy is massive compared to the others so he must be slow yet have lots of health, his gun has a huge wide hole so he must have a shotgun. he also seems to have some sort of hooking ability with that hook in his hand.

this guy shoots 2 different guns i guess? he can see things differently, maybe? he has a wider field of view???????????
???????????????????????????????
The thing I remember most from this game is me and all of my friends trying the free beta and being struck at just how terrible the style and direction came across.
I believe we came to the conclusion of "It feels like one of the throwaway xbox 360 shooters from 2007"
Gameplay was ok but I knew from the very beginning the game wasn't going to go anywhere thanks to it's abysmal marketing and it's completely tone-deaf presentation with a 'style' that made me feel less nostalgic and more repulsed.
The games look was just as unoriginal as Cliffy B.
i wanted to get this game really bad when it came out, watched a lot of twitch streams before those died off. it's really depressing seeing this game get shut down. ☹
No realistic source seems to be saying that it's shutting down
The things I find on google are from.... January.
It looks like you can find games if you play on weekends (which is presumably when the reddit is doing their community events.) Although $30 is a bit too expensive for me in that regard tbh.
This is why you always put effort on creating bots in these MP games, so even when the game dies, the game is still somewhat playable.
Hopefully this will deter companies from trying to make multiplayer money mines, and hopefully it'll make companies consider single-player games (or at least single and multiplayer) more often.
It seems like everything Cliff touches in recent years turns to shit. I'm glad at least Bulletstorm managed to squeak by without fully succumbing to it, but even in that game you can sense considerable helpings of the Cliffy B taint.
I dont know enough about art and character design to adequately describe how bored those characters make me feel just by looking at them
Unironically yes since Sex sells and Overwatch has a great female cast
Part of me is wondering if Cliffy B is wishing he stayed at Epic now. He had a pretty prominent role in Fortnite's development before he left, and the reason he did leave was I believe due to Tencent buying a large stake in the company. With Fortnite also essentially being in development hell for the longest time, and Paragon and the new UT being seemingly dead, I can also see him originally being happy he left, because Epic just simply stopped making worthwhile games for a time after Gears 3.
But now, we live in a world where Fortnite is just conquering everything. Its popularity now is higher than games like Minecraft were at their peak. The game is making millions through completely optional purchases alone. Meanwhile, Lawbreakers tanked hard and never really found an audience.
Or, maybe he'll take this as meaning he should try to make a Battle Royale game...
i dunno man, judging by the crud the dude is shitting out now, it sounds like leaving Epic was the best thing he ever did - for Epic.
Yeah, about that...
Radical Heights on Steam
Looks like an offensively boring Fortnite BR clone.
This looks like some half assed chinese mobile grab at fortnite.
Exactly. And when everyone is flying around at 20,000mph in a near zero gravity bubble, it gets even worse. And while some characters did have some unique features such as "wide FOV man" and "big boots person", they still were super dull compared to the environment.
So does wide FOV man actually have a wider FOV or what?????????
?????????????
