Men commit an enormously higher amount of violence than women, but on the other hand the amount of woman-committed domestic violence that goes unreported or unpunished is sickening.
I think it would be important to not just look at the figures, but also to interpret them and find out why. Why do women get fewer and smaller raises? Discrimination is certainly a possibility and I'm sure it's a factor in at least a few cases. But to consider other things, women also work fewer hours on average and take more leave than men. This may lead to them being less valued as workers, and it's not due to misogyny, but cold, corporate practicality, the same practicality that raises the insurance prices for young men over any other group.
kind of related to what you are talking about rebi but here in Australia the demographic that has the highest suicide rate in the country are male construction workers, young and old. and nobody really talks about it/or cares I've been trying to get out of the construction industry myself, but when I was still a welder yeah it was pretty common that somebody would know somebody who'd off'd themselves.
I don't think it's that much overlap however I don't deny it's there but this doesn't discredit the MRA movement or it's members. It simply means there are some bad apples in the MRA movement just as there are bad apples in the feminism movement so I'm not sure what you are getting at here. Every movement has it's extremists and feminism is no exception, what matters is how that movement deals with them. I don't know who this "GrilWritesWhat" is supposed to be, to me it appears to be a random reddit post that is quoted and thus it's credibility can be easily questioned. I would also like to point out that you could probably find a similar reddit port on /r/feminism. I don't think I can disagree with what you said with regards to male suicide, men tend to "hold it in" and are less likely to seek help. I would argue that it's not only because of aspects of masculinity but also because of social pressures since society tends to have this idea that men are more capable and in less need of mental health care than women.
I linked it because you were talking about women in the MRM. She has an entire youtube channel with 200k subs. The issue is there isn't as much substance under it academically/philosophically once we scrape the bad apples away, and the bad apples comprise the most influential and visible aspects of the movement. Why bother with the MRM, however, who are filled with very prominent bad apples, without a strong sociological foundation, history of effectiveness, and with such derision? There are good people that deal with these issues, like a lot of what feminists care about have direct relation to these issues (e.g. male suicide & gender roles,) and others who don't bear the label but focus on men's issues like the good men foundation.
Men's rights movements by and large are reactionary in nature, spearheaded by obnoxious figures, with the sole purpose of undermining feminism.
Men working in real estate don't have anywhere near the same risk of dying as someone working in construction. For all intents and purposes, work accidents are an occupational hazard, and while it affects mostly one gender, it's not really its defining feature. The wage gap applies much more broadly. I'd say this point is also why work accidents don't get as much attention - this is an issue that affects mostly people with lower levels of education, within industries that are already losing ground (in their importance to the economy). These people aren't prime candidates for speaking up
Most women I've come across in IT field so far for past few years were absolute trash at their job (testers/QA's/programmers) and had very little motivation to do their jobs. If they were paid more or same as me - I wouldn't be very happy with the job, it just means I can do half of my work, I can drop my work standards and still continue receiving same pay while doing 50% of what I do now. and tbh for past few years it feels like people push their feminist agenda only when it benefits them.
I think this tends to apply to every agenda, but it doesn't necessarily mean it should just be ignored.
I feel like a lot of these differences come down to just sexual dimorphism. It's worth investigating for sure but I think society wouldn't like the conclusion if that's what it comes down to. Men and women behave differently, I don't see what's so bad about that so long as they have the same opportunities.
stop complaining about feminism and go back to playing with your toy trains and cars, sweetie. anoraks shouldn't pretend to understand society
Unless CEOs/MDs/Founders and other higher paying jobs magically have a 50:50 split in the genders then this is unlikely, and I think that would be unlikely to happen too.
Hey maybe you should learn not to make literal child like ad-hominems before you try to debate with people. It's not a good look.
