I didn't think there was such a thing as a wrong opinion until I read this post.
How the hell did RISC-V basically become a meme? It's an instruction set that's just designed to be simple, extensible and license-free (mainly for research purposes). It happens to be pretty good in terms of performance per watt, but it's not really designed for high-performance CPUs.
I think a combination of being picked up by a couple of high-profile companies (WD, NVIDIA) and people in-industry being generally pissed off with the IP situation around instruction sets, given that they're essentially another API. Also, what do you mean by not designed for high performance?
