Heaven is going to get a lot more shoutier soon.
Semper Fi, Gunny You managed to make even something as shitty as the tcm remake watchable just on your strong personality.
just watched him in seven, totally forgot he was in it. master of improv. rest in peace gunny https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7tAtB430oY
I was just thinking about him the other day. Sad to see such and iconic individual go. Semper Fidelis, Gunny.
Semper Fi, Godspeed Gunny. May your 30mm autocannon swiftly strike down your enemies in the next world.
that absolutely sucks, but yea not a bad age to go out on. i do gotta wonder if he finished recording for Toy Story 4. I don't see him even listed on the cast tho so maybe he wasn't going to be in it to begin with.

He's yelling at angels now, RIP Gunny ;_;7
I used to watch Mail Call so much when I was a child, it's the main reason why I've had such a lifelong fascination with military equipment and hardware. RIP legend.
Fuck off, it was better had you said nothing at all.
God damn, one more to report in to Chesty ;_;

Semper Fi. Man, hearing taps always makes me cry like a bitch
I got to meet him a few yeras backw ith a few friends. He yelled at us, but because we asked him to. God's Speed Gunny.
His personality defined the military type, he will be remembered forever for that. RIP Ermey.
Well shit that seems sudden. I met him last June when he was doing a promotional thing at the Kittery Trading Post and he seemed to be doing pretty good. He was glad to answer a question I had despite my nervous awkwardness Basically my question was “what’s your favorite rifle” and his answer was “The M1 Garand” and that he had like 7 of them or something including the sniper variant. Before I left he also said “go buy yourself one, you’ll thank me for it later”.
Wow, actually a bit shook up by this. Me and my dad used to watch FMJ all the time when I was a kid (I first watched it when I was about 5-6, massively into my millitary history back when I was a kid, used to have all the books, watch all the movies and went to reenactment events all the time) we used to bond over all the that stuff when I was growing up, even to this day me and dad always joke about the lines of R lee on FMJ, he seemed like such a cool but crazy guy, and his documentaries on the History channel were brilliant, a mixture of his amplified military instructor mixed with some pretty good information about the firearms he was using, needless to say that fucking sucked hearing this tonight, he was a total legend to the war film genre. for those that watched FMJ, and if not, totally recommend it for his legendary performance on the film. He was just a TI on the film, but later Kubrick loved his attitude and the fact he can keep in character with his millitary experience, so he eventually made it to the role of the gunnery sergeant we all know and love today. Its a hell of a film too, stylistically anti-war, and to some making a mockery of the glamorisation of the war films in the 80's that used the Vietnam war setting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs4puvFVRmI
This is probably already common knowledge by now, but reading that his entire role in Full Metal Jacket was essentially all ad-libbed was incredible. RIP gunny.
God damn I remember watching Mail Call with my dad as a kid, fucking hell. Godspeed Gunny.
