They are taking down youtube videos about eldewrito too this just seems petty https://i.imgur.com/H4ZSzlx.png
https://twitter.com/ske7ch/status/989193103889260544?s=09 About twitch streamers being DMCA'd
"We care about the PC community" they say, as they DMCA people streaming and doing content for the game. Cunts.

Even if Microsoft pulled the plug, it's too late. There's thousands of active players with the game files who'll just redistribute them and the game is in a state where it doesn't necessarily need more updates. Plus if they did pull the plug, I bet you'd see a lot of people downloading pirate bay versions injected with viruses due to no official download killing the PC community even more. In this case, Microsoft should really just swallow their pride and allow this magnificent dev team to just fucking continue with Microsoft's support or even just acceptance. But no, without a doubt Micro$oft are probably eventually going to release some sort of paid garbage with loot boxes and nothing true to the original experience that Eldewrito is now.
If you didn't want people to make an unlicensed version of Halo 3 for the PC, you should have released your own version of Halo 3 for the PC
Plus, if only eldewrito pepople wouldn't have released a version of their software with the full game... Like, eldewrito itself is perfectly legal, the problem is distributing it with a copy of halo online, you are supposed to make the user supply that themselves.
Phil Spencer himself responds: https://twitter.com/XboxP3/status/989157724821729280
Too late, honestly they can fuck off. They are only doing this because of the outcry. We've waited over a decade for a H3 port. I don't want some Win10 bullshit we had H2-Vista, this would be no different. Talk to me when you want to release MCC + Reach on steam with full workshop support. (I only say this because I believe microsofts only distribution platform is the windows store and it's exclusive to Win10)
How do you handle a situation even worse than nintendo, Honestly baffling.
To be honest I'm completely okay with them just taking down Halo Online downloads. They're not going after the actual ElDewrito mod itself and the devs have said that they're just going to stop distributing the Halo Online files with it and it should be fine. What I'm not okay with is DMCA'ing videos and twitch streams of ElDewrito.
Even if it goes through the mediocre windows store I'd still just love to be able to play through reach and 3's campaigns again with an actual mouse and turnt up graphics tbh. And multiplayer-wise we'd get a game that actually has an anti-cheat built in (which unfortunately isn't exactly possible with el dorito.)
If I took the Russian release for the movie "Interstellar", added English subtitles, then retitled it "ElNolanrito" and then distributed it for free, nobody here would be defending me when I get DMCA'd. Bottom line is these devs were basically enabling people to play a paid game for free. Yea rara fight the power and all that shit, but piracy isnt cool no matter how you try to justify it.
That comparison doesn't work because one was a paid product and the other is not.
after having tried out eldewrito, yeah, i'm not too bummed out about the possibility of a genuine halo multiplayer on pc. it's pretty janky and doesn't feel much like a real halo game. it sucks their effort was potentially for naught, but if we get the real thing down the line, fair enough. if at the very least this is what pushes microsoft into doing it, then job done.
Do you think Halo Online wasnt going to be a monetized product? Theyre both still licensed content and distributing them for free without consent is still piracy.
Yeah I'm not exactly sure what their basis for the DMCAs are. They seem to agree that the mod itself is legal, and that the problem is people redistributing the halo online files. Of course, the majority of players will be using pirated copies, but not all, because back at the start of halo online you did download it straight from the Russian company. So if you're in that case, you should be gucchi to stream it I think, and otherwise, they don't necessarily have proof these people pirated it.
If ElDewrito dies and we get an official Halo release that's actually maintained that'd be a decent outcome tbh. Due to how the whole thing works it's a mostly functional patchwork of nightmares. The gameplay actually works fine, but everything they did to get you to that part of the software is a bit fucked. It's impressive but jesus. Probably not going to be a Halo: Custom Edition, but that's never really stopped people before.
Unless the streamer is wearing a track suit and playing Dota on a CRT, then he probably didnt download the game legally. The vast, vast, vast, vast majority of copies are illegally distributed. Trying to devalue the streaming ban because like 12 doods have original copies is dumb.
they essentially teased a halo MCC release a few weeks ago but they are currently working on rebuilding some elements of the current MCC on XB1 before moving to PC. They stated this in a blog post weeks ago.
I don't know if you're really allowed to just shoot based on that. And do you think Microsoft would actually withhold the DMCA if say, a developer is streaming it on twitch?
0.6 is essentially just straight-up halo 3, what are you talking about? Actually it's better than Halo 3, because it has massively improved forge tools and is open source. If Microsoft ever actually does port Halo 3, it is not going to be even close to as good. There is a pretty much 0% chance that it will have any modding support whatsoever, it'll probably just be using the same shitty, bare-basic forge tools that were in the original version, if Halo 5 forge is anything to go by it'll probably be a half-assed port that is severely lacking in basic PC features and options, in general it is pretty much guaranteed to be a completely closed-off product that will be inferior in quality to what we already have with ElDewrito.
Phil's been getting a lot of emails https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/226797/b92e3dc6-a3d7-4855-995a-9e50efeb75e0/image.png
i haven't given much playtime to any of the halos other than halo 1, so damn, if this is what halo 3 is like, fair enough. it doesn't feel great to me though
Could be a case of Twitch knocking down streams before M $ politely and lawyerly asks them too. Honestly it doesnt matter if youre allowed. Youtube star who makes $300 a month off his videos isnt in a position to fight M $
We have stated a number of times that our future games (starting with Halo Wars 2 and Halo Wars 1 on Steam) will be coming for Xbox and PC. So if there was a "Halo 6" it would by that logic come to PC. https://www.resetera.com/threads/phil-spencer-hints-at-classic-halo-coming-to-pc.38507/page-5#post-7185532 Bonnie Ross has also mentioned that they'll be investing in classic Halo and PC moving forward. Assuming "classic Halo" isn't referring to a return to roots in the next main Halo title, the two are likely related.
Microsoft should just work with them. Halo 3 on PC with mod support could be lit.
