because it's history and deserves to be remembered beyond a section in a dusty school history book.
This isn't an issue about "liberals", just people who want to forget the past, and those who don't
Fucking hell have you all lost the ability to see satire?
Just to clarify here, you're not pro-past. You want to forget it?
Then why did are you suggesting we build confederate statues?
... I'm for the opposite
My bad, I quoted you on accident, was trying to quote the top post by spenver.
we're beyond the point of satire because legitimate arguments have robbed satire of its bite and made the two indistinguishable, so you'll have to excuse people for treating what people say seriously in these times.
You of all people should read this report here before posting again.
I mean I understood this was a joke but its sad how many people actually think this way though.
Its hard to make jokes these days when humor becomes reality
True, people here would flip their shit every time Tudd posted something, even though they knew he was a troll and doing it to make them flip their shit. Critical lack of self-awareness in that situation.
I am so grateful for the new snowflake rating.
I love how your posts say so much more about you review the person you're responding to.
Oh but he got you back! ZING
Yeah, he's salty.
I'm just always amused by the doublethink that's so characteristic of the right.
The very same people who call the left wing snowflakes and scoff at the idea of 'safe spaces' get incredibly triggered when history is brought up. Being a conservative is essentially an exercise in constantly making yourself out to be a victim. I guess they were projecting all along.
Lol, I'm not salty in the least. Why would you say I was salty? I saw the bait, and I pointed it out. Nothing for me to be salty over. But please do continue. I'm enjoying this.
Tudd genuinely believes the things he posts, I don't think he is a troll. The people who got banned for disagreeing with him was just a bonus.
Not bait, it's reality
If it was bait it wasn't particularly good bait because no one actually "took" it and responded to his point. But I'm not really even sure how it was bait. It's a completely relevant statement given how Civil War monuments have been in the news lately.
It was an extremely obvious joke.
rip silence
Apparently not
Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it, im fairly sure that nobody wants to repeat what happened back then, I think the people who act like this is some sort of attack or accusation are missing the point, this doesn't define a current group of people but serves as a reminder of what can happen if things go unchecked and as something we all do not want to forget, I do think the distinction does need to be pointed out some times people should not feel guilty about this but determined to understand what happened and prevent it.
If you don't like the concept of accepting wrongs of the past that you in no way participated in you might want to think about why
when I did history we were taught about the slave trade when I was 13, the civil rights movement from 1865 is also now something taught if you take GCSE history when you're 14
