It didn't play "Like a WW2 game with a WW1 skin", BF1 played like a Battlefield game with a WW1 skin, because that's what it was and what it was always going to be. A WW2 game is obviously going to play similar to BF1, but that's because of them both being Battlefield games and that's simply how a Battlefield game in a setting without things like Lock-on weapons and helicopters plays, not because of anything like "BF1 is a WW2 game already" (which i've seen some say). None of the Battlefield games play in a way that's anywhere near how the real-life equivalent would be, they always have a core style of gameplay that's retained and whatever theme they are meant to be is put on-top of that.
Of course with BF1 that core gameplay wasn't going to drastically change and they'd still keep the usual variety and ability to let players choose their roles, equipment, and weapons without arbitrary restrictions. Things like the prevelance of automatic weapons in BF1 is because of that aspect of player choice that the series always includes.
Pass.
Wake me up when BF2143 is announced.
I would kill for Battlefield 2143 but I doubt we're getting it
Please get rid of suppression and movement sway that punishes anyone who doesn't play the automatic low ttk mosh pit
Skill only matters in close range because of these mechanics that lower skill ceiling
except not really. If there wasnt a suppression mechanic, snipers would dominate at medium to long range. 1's suppression is actually great and was a good counter to snipers camping overlooks on the map.
That would've been glorious if they kept the name. They would be competing with Black Ops llll for worst title.
Pretty much! It's why I never got the complaints of "it plays like a WWII game!!". Well, duh of course it would. the mid-to-late period of WWI is when all the tactics used in WWII were pioneered, so of course they would be similar. Personally, DICE captured the idea and feel of the late war pretty well with BF1. I probably won't pick up the next game since I'm a WWI buff and that's the only reasons I got BF1, but I'm still excited to see what the next one is.
It's gonna be a fps Xbox exclusive battle royale game with lootboxes and utilizing blockchain technology, set in 12th century Korea and featuring John Malkovich as a Kazakhstani human trafficker with a penchant for stromboli
Can't wait for this to come out. I was just thinking that Battlefield 1 wasn't dumbed down enough, so hopefully they reduce squad sizes to 0, reduce the number of classes to 1, add more loot boxes, and change the name to "Call of Duty".
Nice horse, is this Battlefield 1.2?
I don't think we will ever get something like BC2 again that's for sure.
I disagree suppression makes a lick of difference for long range snipers. I go at range if I don't want to deal with the nonsense. Only the bipod'd laser MGs can do anything, but they never last.
But, I'd just make these changes for carbine and infantry variants while getting rid of the dumb sweet spot mechanic that makes the sniper v sniper meta that much more flat
I only play with those two and its a handicap. I get suppressed more and feel the effects of ttk 2.0 while having no advantages other than slightly faster ads. I still have to stand still be accurate, killing all added mobility. At the same time, I can't counter snipe as well.
The game doesn't incentivize recon participation.
It wasn't as good as BF4, but I thought it was still a fun game.
let's just have "Battlefield: Current Year" that is constantly updated on a subscription model
Theres a mention of "battlefield 5" in some javascript for the site.
If its a relic of the original codename or the actual name, we'll soon see.
EA start funding militia in africa with their infinite lootbox dollar just so they can keep the game fresh with new content
That's why they pay their taxes
If it's a WW2 shooter I'm be immensely disappointed.
Will I have to get vehicles out of loot boxes in this one? I hope that the RNG God's smile upon me and I can get an Abrams tank.
Can't wait for the reveal, I absolutely loved BF1, it feels alot like BF1942 to me and I wouldn't mind a BF1944 for 2018.
It's also pretty cool that the reveal date was discovered through an easter egg hunt, it's a nice way to get the community involved.
I think a new WW2 game in the style of BF1 would be pretty good. The only question is if they will try to ruin it with loot boxes.
I just went ahead and fixed the web page for em.

I got BF1 pretty recently and I enjoy it although it feels way more deathmatch-y and nade spammy with the focus on infantry combat. Visually it looks great with great sound.
WW1 was a nice change, I especially enjoy the new weapons that I haven't seen in other games and the older uniforms that often look more classy.
If it's WW2 for the next game I'll be disapponited. I got tired of WW2 many years ago. I didn't care about COD WW2 at all. People were crying for WW2 games but I feel like we already explored the era too much.
Now BC3, although it would be current warfare again, would provide most mechanics and the SP could be entertaining again.
Well BF2018 is gonna be live-service much like Battlefront 2, so yeah

Youre not ever going to get another BC or 2142 game.
Nobody wants BC except diehard console fans. Nobody wants 2143 except diehard pc fans. EA and DICE are not marketing to either group anymore. Theyve been progressively dumbing down their games and removing teamplay elements so it will appeal to a broader audience.
Sorry, but the era of mainstream team shooters is dead. Welcome to the battleroyale era of gaming.
ahahahaha fuck you you're getting more D-Day and Iwo Jima.
I'm still sick of WW2 from the early 2000s when everything was riding the Saving Pvt Ryan hype. I'd rather get 70s and 80s minor conflicts and proxy wars where everything has a CRT screen with green text.
I think BC3 would be a waste. Wouldn't be different enough to BF4 and we've already had modern warfare in BC3, BF3 and BF4. Also I think Dice should stick to MP. Their SP offerings are always underwhelming and they divert resources from the MP which is the mainstay of the franchise.
No one wanted WW1 battlefield either until it was actually revealed and came out.
