Nice to know that the show was renewed for the next 15 years.
Oh boy, now even more people will call in to the live stream shows to ask when the new season starts. And when it does start the stream chat will once again be flooded with people who refuse to accept that the live stream is for original stream shows and isn't the Free Rick And Morty stream. If nothing else I hope the new season gives us an update on Snuffles and Dog World. I feel something interesting could come from that.
Damn, and I was worried there wouldn't be a forth season, immediately gets 7 more seasons.
It's because RIck has gone from a barely restrained self-insert to a full-blown self-insert.
52 is the magic number.
I enjoy the show, though I haven't seen S3 yet. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if the fanbase hadn't set insane standards and given it the amount of praise it received. People were saying how it's one of the most emotional and devastating animated comedies on air and that it was rivaling the Simpsons' golden age in quality, I never felt any of that, not even close. I'm not even really attacking the fans, they clearly love the show and that's fine but some of them really over sold it.
That's an extreme minority tbh, as with everything. There are idiots in every fanbase.
i just watched two harry middle aged men in a shpwer. damnit rick and morty! at 10/15 eps a season though thats like 5-7 seasons
It's funny that they spent so long keeping everyone in the dark, to the point that people all over the comments sections of Rick and Morty related stuff on social media were saying it was cancelled left and right, then they go and renew it for 70 fucking episodes. Take that internet people! There was one episode in Season 3 devoted almost entirely to growing Jerry's character and his relationship with Rick, and one more that was devoted to him and his relationship with his kids and another with his relationship with Beth. He's always been pretty much a parasite, he's always acted like one, his arc in season 3 was him stopping being a parasite. I don't know what you mean by sacrificing his family, though, can't think of anything that lines up with that and I just recently rewatched season 3. He just tried to get rid of Rick, which he's always wanted to do. Also Rick built the car while he was drunk, he probably hasn't made another one because it works fine and there's no real need to. Besides, it's iconic by now, why would the creators get rid of it? But yeah he did seem a little too godly in season 3. It's fun watching the supposed smartest person in the universe fuck up and see where that takes the story.
This feels like a threat
Honestly, if they keep the writers they brought on for Season 3, then please no.
I don't get all the hate season 3 gets tbh. I thought it was fine. Not as good as season 2 but still on par with 1, which I honestly thought had some of the weakest episodes in the series.

With the whole "PICKLE RIIIICK" bullshit it became fashionable to harp on a series that everyone was starting to hold to a ridiculous standard. When a cool thing that was kind of a secret that only cool people knew about became a thing you started shouting callouts to in a mcdonalds the very same people turned coat instantly for the sake of vanity.
I'm referring to the episode where Jerry gets an alien girlfriend and tries to give up Morty and Summer when he's in danger. The whole "he's a parasite that uses people's pity" aspect is only something that shows up in later episodes. Solving a problem in characterization that only really emerges right when it's relevant to solving the problem isn't actually doing anything. He certainly wasn't a parasite in the example I said before, or the cronenberg episode where he pulls out a shotgun and fights his way to save Beth. Yes, he was insecure and incompetent in Season 1, but not a parasite.
To be fair, that was a different Jerry. I do agree that the endless harping on Jerry got old, but that was mainly a season 2 thing (Jerry get a job get a job get a job get a job, Christ they closed an episode with that line then practically opened the next with it as well), it felt like there was less of it in season 3. Also he did call himself a parasite in season 2, and Beth agreed with him, it was established before season 3. I guarantee there will be less of it in the next season, though, after his arc in this season, so that's a plus.
I may not be able to remember everything about the show, but I enjoyed it. Simple as that, really. Happy to enjoy it some more.
there's no way this doesn't completely tank
Laughed throughout Seasons 1-2. Laughed at Episode 1 of Season 3. The rest was just... Humour that tried too hard. Here's hoping Season 4 works out.
I enjoyed Rick and Morty a lot, but it felt the same kind of show I'd be in the mood for as American Dad (but actually good). That, I'm feeling pessimistic about a 70 episode renewal. I feel like it's going to be run into the ground at a point. It's good, it has potential, but I can feel it's flaws. I'm glad Rick is being held more accountable for his actions, lately, though. I appreciated seeing characters say to Rick "yeah, no, fuck off" more now. But I hate hate hate how they do Jerry. His entire character is awful. He's a tired "pathetic husband" trope pushed to 11. It's annoying, it's not fun to watch, and it's just terrible. I can really enjoy the show and it's self awareness I just... Can't enjoy Jerry.
A step closer towards the "Rick and Morty forever and forever 100 years" promise made in the first episode.
I thought it's legacy had come to an end at 3 seasons, and yet, we have been proven wrong. 70 new episodes is fantastic
70 episodes is a lot though. I wonder if they got offers from other networks and they didn't want to lose their cashcow so they locked them down for the next 7 seasons
