• Want to view porn anonymously in the UK? You need a Porn-Pass™ license for that

The PSA is really dumb, and has arguably been toothless, as the vast majority of cases involving it have not resulted in convictions, due to the fact that, unsurprisingly, banning any chemical that has an effect on the brain is ridiculously vague. I heard about this ban being in the works a while back, but didn't think it'd actually happen. Still, with the way the Internet works, people will find ways around it pretty quickly. Meanwhile, the government is wasting another £2.5 on submarines shaped like dicks, presumably to work out their frustration due to inaccessible porn.
Imagine just beating your meat the the police knock in your door because your fuckin Porn-Pass™ expired.
You're so close yet so far my dude. I'll say it again. The right wing can be authoritarian, and has been so in this country (and the US, and a lot of Europe) since the 80s. 'Somebody think of the Children' is like a social conservative cliche.
Yes, as we all know, important platforms of (((the leftists))) are moral panic and shaming sexuality.
And so you have me all figured out from this? Tell me how censorship is exclusive to one camp of politics.
You were the one who said censorship was leftist, mate.
This kind of censorship is typical behaviour of far-right conservatism. I mean you really have to be trying not to understand politics not to get that. Who do you think backed the book-burnings and censorship of 'lascivious materials' in Europe during the 40's and 50's? Who do you think raved against hippie culture as being "decadent"? in the 60's? You really, really have to be reaching really far to try and say that this isn't right-wing conservatism to a T, and instead loop it back around to be "those dang dirty leftists" because that fits your pig-ignorant world view.
Weren't you the one saying that?
He's calling you out for doing this, though. A right wing, socially conservative government is pushing for a type of censorship most associated in the west with social conservative moral panic, and you are going "THE LEFTIST LIEBRALS DID THIS!"
Oh my god you have literally no idea what you're talking about
See, this is what happens when you fall down the anti-SJW rabbit hole, where you suddenly think only the left censors offensive content, when both sides are capable of doing so. Do you also think that banning gay marriage is a left-wing thing, because it is offensive to some conservative christians? I hope you see the contradiction.
Kutchinsky, 1973 https://spssi.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1540-4560.1973.tb00094.x The Danish liberalization of legal prosecution and of laws concerning pornography and the ensuing high availability of such materials present a unique opportunity of testing hypotheses concerning the relationship between pornography and sex offenses. It is shown that concurrently with the increasing availability of pornography there was a significant decrease in the number of sex offenses registered by the police in Copenhagen. On the basis of various investigations, including a survey of public attitudes and studies of the police, it was established that at least in one type of offense (child molestation) the decrease represents a real reduction in the number of offenses committed. Various factors suggest that the availability of pornography was the direct cause of this decrease. Kutchinsky, 1991 http://psycnet.apa.org/record/1991-24607-001 Reviews the evidence regarding the postulated causal link between pornography and rape, using data on the incidence of rape in 4 societies (Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and the US) where pornography is widely available. While earlier research found no evidence of a causal link between pornography and rape, a new generation of behavioral scientists has attempted to prove such a connection, especially for aggressive pornography. Aggregate data on rape and other violent or sexual offenses in these 4 countries seem to exclude the possibility that the availability of pornography has had any detrimental effects in the form of increased sexual violence. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2017 APA, all rights reserved) Ferguson, 2009 The pleasure is momentary…the expense damnable? The effects of pornography, whether violent or non-violent, on sexual aggression have been debated for decades. The current review examines evidence about the influence of pornography on sexual aggression in correlational and experimental studies and in real world violent crime data. Evidence for a causal relationship between exposure to pornography and sexual aggression is slim and may, at certain times, have been exaggerated by politicians, pressure groups and some social scientists. Some of the debate has focused on violent pornography, but evidence of any negative effects is inconsistent, and violent pornography is comparatively rare in the real world. Victimization rates for rape in the United States demonstrate an inverse relationship between pornography consumption and rape rates. Data from other nations have suggested similar relationships. Although these data cannot be used to determine that pornography has a cathartic effect on rape behavior, combined with the weak evidence in support of negative causal hypotheses from the scientific literature, it is concluded that it is time to discard the hypothesis that pornography contributes to increased sexual assault behavior. tl;dr is more porn = less rape. There are many other debates in this area too, concerning violent porn, and effects of porn on healthy sexual relationships, with less clear conclusions. Google scholar gives a wealth of information on the topic(s). I would not be surprised if this license has a detrimental effect.
I'm a far-right conservative and I think it's a load of bullshit! I honestly don't care about people looking at porn.
You can call it far-left; doesn't make it so. It's objectively a conservative policy and the only other camp that would execute such policies would be rather radical feminists. To think that this is a "far-left" policy is a) a fundamental misunderstanding of both conservative and "left-wing" ideologies and b) a fundamental misunderstanding of British party politics.
No. The right is in power. The right is doing these things. These are not "leftist actions" as they're being done by the right wing for typical, traditional moral "right" reasons.
Knowing how it is over there, they'd probably send the police over BEFORE it expires so they can bust your door down the second it does. Nobody wants to be assigned to Jack-Off Duty.
You're the one implying it's exclusive to the left though?
I honestly want to know where this idea that liberals are for censoring anything comes from. That is so solidly a conservative idea, that the concept is literally bound by both alignments' names. The word "liberal" means open to new ideas and generally toward a pursuit of personal freedoms. The word "conservative" is the converse, with inclinations to lock things down and keep things exactly the same. If a leftist anywhere ever tries to censor anything, I don't care what they or anyone else says, that's a conservative idea. It's perfectly possible for people who are predominantly liberal to have conservative ideas, and it's equally possible for people who are predominantly conservative to have liberal ideas (my father is the perfect example of that, being the most hard-line "send Obummer back to Africa" Republican you can find, but even he agrees that gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone and should be legally allowed - a liberal viewpoint). Wanting to censor things doesn't automatically make you a conservative. But it definitely is a conservative idea, and as such, in general, liberals don't want it. So to say that liberals want to censor things is disingenuous, because that implies censorship is a liberal idea - which it most patently is not. This is why I get annoyed whenever people rail about "fucking SJWs", or worse yet, "fucking far-leftists" whenever some extremist Tumblr-ite calls for censorship or genocide or something. That isn't a leftist idea. It is conservative. A good example of this was a few months ago, when Patreon started slamming down hard on adult content. I saw people go "fucking far-left SJW Patreon staffers trying to censor anything" and I was just dumbfounded. Patreon's staff and founders are largely liberal, but Patreon is also a business - and business, by its nature, is conservative. If companies want to keep their corporate funding, like I am sure Patreon has through investors, then they have to play it safe and make it "family friendly," through the means of censorship and regulation - and those are conservative ideas.
Do you think UK porn actors will get their pass for free similar to how TFL (Transport for London) staff get free travel?
This whole scenario is so absurdly out of touch I can't even begin to comprehend why we're wasting time on it Surely we should be busier on slightly more important matters than 17 year olds cranking one out
Well shit I need to secure my future if we go down that route.
So without your porno card, will you be totally unable to look at porn? Will there be a fucking paywall on PornHub asking you for your 16 Digit Porn Pass™ Authentication Code before you can "anonymously" look at porn after standing in line at the 7/11 a couple blocks from your house? What was wrong with VPNs? Hell, what was wrong with Incognito Mode? Anything would be better than that, right? Fuck around and get caught by your neighbor for looking at underground porn and have your door kicked in by the fucking Porn Police because you circumvented Her Majesty's Porn Protection Network. Where did the justification for this come from? I can see it now... One month, 3 months, 6 month, 1 year and up Porn Passes™... Or you could even get Quickie Passes™ for 15, 30, and 45 minute increments. Or... Her Majesty's Royal Porn Service All Access Season Pass £159.99! Okay, I'm done... But seriously. Watch this turn into a massive money grab.
This is very similar to the utterly unenforcable Pirate Bay Blockade we have, a measure put in place to protect "x", where "x" is some nebulous group that probably isn't suffering as much as the Tories would like you to think from said thing. Piracy sites have still been easily accessible since this blockade because ISPs just don't give a fuck enough to go for full blocking, they block reactively and quite slowly to avoid fines and that's it. Porn sites will see the same thing happening. After all, a brand new site that nobody has really visited can't be classified as "adult only" by any metric that isn't someone actually checking the site. I could register a number of saucy domain names and complain to high hell when the ISPs block them due to their names I'm sure.
fine if some government agent wants to watch Little Cocks in Big China's butthole with me then that's their pain to inflict on themselves
Im so sorry buddy. I know that sounds sarcastic but I'm being genuine.
I'm honestly really curious to know how they plan on pulling this off. Are they just enforcing a firewall rule through the ISPs? If anything I'm sure a VPN would be all you needed to download those hot bois.
They'll likely do it on the dns level, in which case changing your dns will bypass it.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. This sort of thing is entirely pointless. Routers already have decent adult content filtering on them, and you have to turn that off purposefully. What the government is doing with this nonsense is stupid and pointless.
Err most routers I've seen don't have specific adult filtering, rather you can block sites which is next to useless, and it isn't setup or enabled by default. Some ISP's like Sky have a default on filter but it isn't very effective (unsurprisingly), if you don't want your kids seeing porn don't let them on the internet, simple as that. I don't expect this to be implemented anyway, as soon as it gets to someone who isn't retarded it'll be sent back for review again, other than that we'll all be investing in VPNs which as far as I'm concerned is a good thing.
They should have filtering enabled by default since the law was changed to that a while back. I've visited a relatives house and they had BT and it had the adult content filtering enabled and it even goes as far as blocking imgur so half of the internet breaks.
