• HuniePop and other adult games facing removal from Steam after complaints

look, i can see what you're getting at, but rapey is really the wrong word to use to describe it.
You already have to input your age for 'graphic' games. Though what constitutes that I have no idea because there are mild as fuck games behind the age gate and gory killfests without it. Just extend that to all adult games and the problem is solved.
That might be true. I just think it's important to acknowledge what the content of stuff is. Cause when I say Hunniepop is the least offensive thing ever made, I mean it. A lot of the things caught in this aren't even close to objectionable.
Because Valve is American, and Americans typically have more issues with sex in games than violence. It's a double standard. It's why games with gore can get a T rating, but as soon as a boob is spotted, it immediately gets an M. And I'm not saying I personally find it ok (again, I want Steam to be as open as possible without inflicting consumer harm), but I'm saying that higher profile games get away with it simply because of that. They're higher profile and thus bring in a lot of money. Valve would be foolish to take down a game like GTA V, but view VNs to be smaller and cause less of a nightmare if taken away. And again, I really doubt money is even the issue here. It was just a factor someone brought up that could potentially be plausible to some potential bias, but not likely. The real issue is the content/context of the game itself, and violence as a focus is generally seen more favorable to them than sex as a focus. And I don't care personally what context/content a game has, nor do I care if you enjoy said game or not, I'm just trying to reason why Valve would want to take action on these games over others. Though honestly, why are you buying hentai games in the first place when there are are many that are free and just as good. /shitpost
I opened up steam and one of those popups came up to show whats new and the one that came up for me was some anime game and it was flaunting the girls big old tiddies and ass on my screen. I walked away while Steam was launching so I didn't realize it until 30 minutes later when I came back - really glad my mom didn't see it
Yeah, I get that it's a typical, exaggerated internet response to hope something you don't like gets banned or whatever, and it has zero hold on my life what-so-ever, but I still find it silly and annoying to be so vindictive. Life would be fucking boring if we all liked the same shit. Of course I don't really care about people's negative opinions about things I'm not really that into, but this is a forum for sharing opinions and discussion, and it was brought up. Not really trying to be real argumentative, though. I hope I didn't come across like that, it wasn't my intention.
you can call something wrong and uncomfortable, but it doesnt mean it should be taken down, that should only be held in reserve for a message that propagates a call for violence. I mean, to kill a mocking bird definitely made people uncomfortable, doesnt mean it should be taken down. and while I dont think any of the steam VN games will ever become classic literature, I do believe the same general logic should be applied to them
