• NFL bans kneeling during the anthem, teams will be fined for it

This was always so... I just wanted to disappear because the only thing scarier than this is what happens if you're the only one not doing it. Or if they hear you say you don't like having to say the 'under god' part.
I hope more people do it and teams refuse to pay the fine, fuck 'em
Private organizations can do whatever they want with people having different opinions. Its like a liberal teashop banning a conservative for their opinions. At least the players can still protest through other methods.
GOP vs Everyone else
I like how they forced the kids to wear a temp american flag shirt for the video.
way to make a thing worse.
So you want the NFL to kick out the majority of it's players? Good idea! Lets cripple the NFL, destroy the sport for a year or two, crush the concept of freedom of speech and protest in the public sphere for these people, and at the end of the day, the only people who really lost was the NFL. I like your idea. Lets do this. It was so poorly thought out, it'll backfire into getting a result people like me are okay with.
If only I had a dime for every person who says that xxx non-government entity violates FoS / x Amendment...
Either way it's fucked up
While it's totally valid to say that the NFL doesn't have to respect players, teams, or owners freedom of speech within their own private organization, it's funny that it's happening within the context of forcing people to stand for the national anthem.

theyll just find another way to show their displeasure, or just take the fine to show strength
“The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free.” That means every American flag swimsuit, button-up shirt, and even those famous Old Navy flag shirts, can be considered disrespectful. Funny how that works out huh
I really hope this spectacularly backfires for the NFL. It's like the smallest and most peaceful little protest in the world and any person who truly cares for their country will support it.
Remember how America was founded on the doctrine of not standing for the injustices of the Big Man, and not swearing oaths to false idols created purely through an entirely artificial hierarchy conjured up by mere men? What happened to that?
I honestly don't understand this kind of view on it. Kaepernick, and any other NFL athlete, was and is totally free to make any public stand they want outside of the field. Nobody is saying that Kaepernick should shut up about everyone and never talk about any injustice.
Can we stop pretending that the NFL is an impartial party in this? I see a lot of finger wagging towards the players for being "partisan" when the NFL is just as guilty. Most of those team owners are staunch Republicans who donate to the Republican party. I suppose it's just coincidence that they're using their power as employers to suppress political speech they disagree with?
Boy I sure do love being an indentured servant to my employer overlords Rights are overrated, please keep me in line with the constant threat of immediate contract obsolescence Fire me daddy
The whole controversy can be summed up in this image from last fall. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9xrkYgQKz6g/WeaMmJlnZXI/AAAAAAAA_jM/aGl35Wbt4ZUX5kQLV7YvRdjQ2BibAdvjwCLcBGAs/s1600/DMS3ZZPX0AAGCKX.jpg
They are so dumb for not learning that these players are going to stand together on this stuff regardless of what rules you put out. Trying to shut it down before only emboldened other players to join in the kneeling.
You can protest in the designated protest zones that are completely away from any public viewing. Its absolutely fair.
No, it's, "You can protest anywhere you want to in your free time, including: to media, in public, etc."
Remember in America personal freedom means everything unless a corporation tells you not to do something in which case MAGA THANK YOU NFL
Kaepernick was kneeling for a few weeks before anyone made a fuss about it so imo anyone upset about it is just doing so on a very weird principle.
Yeah, people are just saying he should shut up about everyone and never talk about any injustice when it becomes slightly inconvenient for them.
... but no one is saying that? Who has said that? People just don't want his protesting to be on the field.
Literally answering your own question.
"Don't protest on the field" is not the same thing as, in your words, "never talk about any injustice when it becomes slightly inconvenient for them.." Whether he does it on the field or not, it will be "inconvenient" for those who disagree, yet they're only concerned with it on the field.
"I'm not saying they can't protest, they should just do it in an underground bunker where no one can see or hear them"
I'd argue that the players being the fucking centerpiece of the NFL and their sole reason for their continued existence would be given enough credence to be allowed to protest something as peacefully as this.
