If y'all think the people on twitter are reacting bad, you should take a look at the people on gab https://i.gyazo.com/4e5de5a9c8b003e3095479bf11ecb572.png https://i.gyazo.com/dc568fb785899b27593bc11697f97c66.png https://i.gyazo.com/b6739dc80747744e471e3a32a79eabcd.png https://i.gyazo.com/b830f9238143b536bc5503da42327fe0.png https://i.gyazo.com/4b9d6dcc25c9940bddfa145181cef6a2.png https://i.gyazo.com/f62bc0209694efe2c279819bd98662c8.png https://i.gyazo.com/e1cea0906aa33f682b58e476fff07617.png https://i.gyazo.com/22f786a0df19c8d7d618e35aefe0f1ad.png hmu 30 / m / parents basement lf rich people to save the white race with.
This is whataboutism. Modern media is raw sewage, partially evidenced by the media's response to this, but "alternative news" is often much worse and some people make the mistake of solving their problem with media by replacing it with a smaller "alternate" media source. This is easy for people who dont realize better, because while CNN has a shitton of their fuckups well documented "henry and mary's freedom news blog" will have much fewer to no such examples of fuckups out there simply because they're tiny organizations.
I hate it when people people make massive generalizations like "the media is raw sewage" because it feels like you're attacking fox/cnn/msnbc for being innaccurate but also stuff like Washinton Post, NY Times, Axios and other well regarded news organizations who are pretty good at getting accurate and correct news. It's okay to criticize the press but don't criticize something vague like "the media". It's like criticizing veterinarians after my dog poops on my rug.
I generalize because the average way the bulk of the public gets their information is my main concern, but i see the potential for confusion even if you're analogy is... poopy. NYT isnt raw sewage, but by no means would i say the new york times and washington post deserve to be "well regarded". It's kind of a case of moving goalposts, as everyone else has gotten worse so have they, there is great variance in the quality of their articles and just like every other publication, they increasingly do not individually research all of their stories, instead they often opt for just rephrasing stories from elsewhere with no verification and when solid independent research is mixed with regurgitated heresay the well of information becomes poisoned. All that said, they do look good in comparison, hopefully in the system elon is proposing a site like NYT would be relatively highly ranked and this would drive further upward progress. (unrelated to the above quote) I'm enjoying watching elon rip into these idiots on twitter. https://i.imgur.com/5btGp5o.png https://i.imgur.com/6Mf6w91.png https://i.imgur.com/fUktA6r.png https://i.imgur.com/fOL135h.png If your best defense is 'i choose to interpret you this way' and 'but you're rich!' i think you're done.
Not seeing much ripping into there friend.
Do you have a suggestion for a news organization that isn't poopy garbage?
That's a pretty bold assertion to be making against the Time ans Post, and I would love to see you back it up. And did you ignore what I said earlier? Crowdsourcing ratings of journalists/media organizations will just be abused by fringe groups at the moment of the site's launch, catapulting the likes of Breitbart or the Daily Wire to the top of the rankings while legitimate news organizations are dropped to to the bottom. Elon isn't proposing anything close to a working system, take off your fanboy glasses for a second and look at the big picture.
Basically you need to find journalists that don't write pile of garbage and follow them, and also when you read articles you need to do your own research on the topic if you want to know how truthful it is. It's pretty forked up and I'm actually okay with Elon going nuts here. I stopped reading random articles and only read news that every news station has covered, it's the only way to know for sure that it's probably not full of crap.
isn't it just fuel to the fire proving elons point that people are discrediting him so rampantly almost as quickly as the media circus starts firing at him? it's a damn shame that a select group of people control the thought of the world. Deus Ex HR really touched up on this as an analogue to games.
What should we just accept his idea and not point out any problems with his idea
His idea, sure, but the initiative he's showing to question the media is resulting in the media raining a hellstorm on him
Its okay to hold the opinion that the New York Times and Washington Post aren't reliable sources of information but its categorically false to say they aren't well regarded, especially the NYT which has won the most Pulitzer Prizes of any newspaper and consistently ranks tops other American newspapers in polling for quality. Personally I'm not really convinced by your conventional wisdom and vague accusations, but I am really interested in where you get your news from if two of the most constantly thorough newspapers in the world don't seem to meet the cut for you. I think it's mindbogglingly naive to assume that someone who is ranting about fake news and wants to create a website to crowdsource "truth" has the best of intentions, in this case increasing the quality of journalism.
