Damn. I never got to into his videos but I played Tribes Ascend with him a few times. He was probably a pretty big part off keeping that game alive for as long as it was.
Ayone know the link to the video of someone rummaging through TB's fridge and critiques what he eats?
I'm 90% sure the reviews he's complaining about are Medal of Honor Warfighter and NFS:Rivals, which were both massive train wrecks besides their technical issues.

TB even putting shitty people in their place after his death. I guess technically people but I guess that just shows of his reach and influence.

I'm gunna miss that man.
TB was a visionary and a couple of pitiful nobodies on twitter isn't going to change that

what a fucking mongoloid
Let's not give those people attention here.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Genna and Orion.
I'm not against the idea but 200 000 dollars?
It does not sit right with me that more notorious/famous people can really profit from such a system. Loads of people lost family members to cancer, myself including but they do not ask for tons of money. Even if the GoFundMe is not even initiated by Genna herself. Not sure what to think about it.
Anyway, this is truly a sad day.
TB was always the kind of person to talk about diversifying your revenue streams and keeping your finances in order. To help people get on the right track and to never act bigger than others who needed help, and didn't like to accept charity for that reason. He always had stuff for his family figured out first, much as I don't want to speculate because it isn't my place, I really doubt things like life insurance and final planning went undone for all this knowing it was all coming.
So the GoFundMe does seem odd. I mean, it does say "I have personally talked to Genna" but I dunno. If I didn't know better the whole thing genuinely looks like it was made by a fan with great intentions but in a little ignorance of what's really going on.
Exactly, TB also had other ventures and was not a pure YT content creator. It just striked me as odd.
I dunno dude, medical costs in the US are already no joke but battling cancer especially is fucking expensive.
I mean it's not my business to judge, like I said, it's totally cool and a really good move of support. I just wanted to be sure that it was something that was cool with Genna and crew because GoFundMes can be a bit legally grey when it comes to huge sums of money suddenly coming someone elses way without their prior consent.
Especially for four years, and considering how hard he fought to beat it.
Honestly I'm still processing this. I started watching him during his World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta coverage and was a subscriber for a few years. Even when I unsubscribed I still watched his content off and on because it was well produced and well informed. Like many have said I didn't agree with everything he said and he could be over the top at times but he never came across as mean spirited, just someone who clearly had a lot of passion for video games. He was a fair critic who wasn't afraid to go after the big companies when they fucked up and went out of his way to help smaller companies who he felt did things right by their customers. He left behind a huge impression in the video games community and while it's tragic that he passed at such a young age, he touched the lives of several thousand people who won't forget him.
I think it pretty much reflects the priorities and faults of the american healthcare, sorry if this diverts somewhat from the topic.
Not to forget, they did make changes to medicare over there did they not? And I do see mentions of special care needed for their son.
She did thank him for this, but it seems kinda unsolicited. We have no idea if they're hurting for money or not and he had quite a few cash flows, and even IIRC said that his insurance was generally decent to him.
Although meh, that's up to her what to do with it, and from the description it sounds like it's completely up to her to even decide to withdraw from it or not, if she doesn't then I assume it just gets refunded to people.
His Youtube channel says he has 2.2m subscribers so I don't think it'd be out of line to state "several million" instead, honestly. As far as internet personalities go he was extremely well known and for good reason.
For what its worth, it was set to 50,000 before, but was raised once it was hit (very quickly)
Genna posted a medical bill on twitter a couple of years ago that showed that after insurance she had to use almost her whole pay cheque to fund TB's treatment. Obviously TB had income with the twitch subscriptions, merchandise, and donations, so it's not like they were made destitute from it, but it's still a massive cost.
Between paying for the medical bills and his funeral, things get expensive fast. It's not like the money is going to waste here.
After paying off medical debts, funeral costs, and saving some so Genna and her son can live without TB's income for a while, there probably won't be much left. But if there is, I hope they put it towards cancer research.
The person who is running the GoFundMe is Dodger's coffee business partner as well as Dodger's best friend's husband. Dodger, obviously, was one of John's best friends. So it wasn't particularly suspicious from the start once you look into it.
Rip. Really going to miss his videos and streams. Really loved the co-optional lounge, it was so chill.
Also, Imagine being such a petty fucking loser that you celebrate the death of someone who had cancer. Fucking pathetic tbh.
I haven't listened to a lot of the older podcasts but it's gonna suck not having any new ones with him. I only started about a year ago and found them really good to have on in the background and you end up hearing about a shitload of games. The ones in the past few months where he or dodger were absent felt really awkward and weak.
His bill are going to have a six figure attachment to them.
Yeah, I'm really glad it was an official thing from the start, and not a fan jumping the gun and accidentally causing a grieving family more stress and problems with an unsanctioned gofundme that they didn't actually ask for, that's all I was worried about. I'd love to toss some into it when I can soon.
For all the years they provided me with an escape, inspiration and lovely content, no money I could give is enough, so it's the least I could do.
