If 76 really ends up being an online focused Fallout themed Rust clone I think I would have preferred a "remastering" of Fallout 3. Still, don't know enough about it right now to pass proper judgement but I'll remain cautiously optimistic for the time being. If nothing else I really enjoyed Fallout 4's gameplay (well, the building and gunplay) so wouldn't say no to more of or improvements to that.
What if online game means it has to be connected to internet to be played and that is it? If it is essentially 3D "Fallout Shelter" with everything tied to real time.
I don't think you're allowed to kill yourself as an escape clause
Knowing Bethesda, there will be still Super Mutants
fallout west virginia: is this a fictional scenario?
Can garry sue Bethesda for ripping off Rust now?
It's not Fallout Online, but if it's multiplayer I'll still give the first 10 here diamonds. Has to be straight from the Toddsters mouth though (unless Todd isn't there, then whoever is next).
Game mechanics aren't protected works unless you manage to secure a patent, which is difficult and usually only applies to things like music games with custom peripherals.
It was a joke referencing the PUBG lawsuit but thanks for explaining the blatantly obvious to me
If you need chill pills I know a guy.
Yeah, knowing that most vaults were fucked up places used to test people in various ways and to engineer horrible projects, it was always a wonder to see what you would run in to. Which is a way makes the idea of the control vault so interesting, its not fucked up in anyway.
I can see this working in terms of theme, at least. Some of the vaults were meant to be opened after fairly short periods of time, so i can imagine them opening the vault after 25 years as planned so they could start to rebuild, but instead having to survive against raiders and all that.
*not fucked in anyway on purpose.
Huh, so it wasn't just a re-release. I'd like to say i'm happy to be wrong that it's not just fucking nothing but i'm not sure i like the idea of a rust clone any better, tho. Just seems like fallout is moving further and further away from being a story driven rpg. I'm especially worried that Bethesda suddenly seem interested in turning one of their big open world single player RPG ips into a multiplayer game during a time when most companies out there are looking to make the perfect platform through which to sell micro-transactions and lootboxes rather than the best possible product. Didn't Bethesda literally bring in a team that specialises in making micro transactions addictive recently? or was that a different company?
The name and focus on a vault makes it almost sound like it's taking the building mechanics from FO4, and attributing them to building and managing a Vault. If the online RUST clone rumors are true, then maybe I was accidentally right about that Fallout Shelter 2 joke, sorta.
an online fallout game? fuuuck that.
A multiplayer game makes sense. Bethesda wanted to explore microtransactions for a long time, but their attempts with Skyrim and Fo4 were less than successful. A multiplayer title, though, would be easy to fill with MTs.
Woohoo i love to have nickel/dime shit shovelled in my face instead of being presented with actual worthwhile, completed games.
They over 500 employees now, they're going to need a lot of money going forward, way more than they used to need. They used to have 90.
I suppose this is where modern capitalism fails then. Either it has to grow exponentially until its a world-dominating empire or it needs to crash like the Hindenburg. Nothing in-between. Personally i'd value the pedigree and status of my company over exchanging my audience goodwill for more money. Buy eh, guess that's why i'll never be absurdly rich.
We're gonna see at E3 what this thing is. Which is soon. I feel like that Rust clone post is just a wild guess. That teaser didn't look like it belongs in a rust clone in the slightest. I'm getting strong settlement building strategy feels from it. And if it somehow is a Rust clone, it's gonna be with large premade teams instead of Free-for-all backstabby stuff.
Why can't it be like a multiplayer option on the side? Like fallout had always been about Singleplayer. Coop mode in singleplayer would had been dope though if they ever have singleplayer
Well, we're trying to take on skilled voice actors with good equipment, but we likely won't have an actor for every NPC in the game. Actors such as myself will probably voice several characters.
Honestly considering how inept Bethesda is at everything that makes the single player Fallout games compelling, I. I'm cautiously optimistic about a Fallout themed Rust clone. The story and "single player" aspects are already kinda weak, so having a multiplayer vault management and town building game sounds pretty fun to me.
I'm still holding out hope that's it's not strictly multiplayer, but more a storied co-op type game. If it's set around the residents of Vault 76, then warring with each other doesn't make much sense from a narrative perspective, I imagine the Vault will be a large part of your survival in the early game.
Is there any still available 👀
I think people need to calm down about the whole Rust clone thing. It came from an unidentifiable source on fucking 4chan, and while he may have gotten the name right I seriously doubt he had all the information about the game at his disposal. It's likely does have to do with building and such with Fallout 4's settlement building system already somewhat like Rust, but I highly doubt considering creation engine's jank and just the general feel of the Fallout world it's going to have naked players running around in an online PVP enviornment hitting rocks with sticks to build more sticks and giant wooden boxes. I find it much more likely that the online component is going to be something like how you'll be able to see other people's creations or such, or even like load them into your own world and get to see a whole new town by yourself. I seriously doubt it's going to actually be like Rust.
Clearly you don't understand the difference between mechanics and thematics. Being naked has nothing to do with "being exactly like rust". Foraging for materials for crafting and using depreciating weapons and tools does.
Doesn't that make it a minecraft clone? I don't know, im optimistic about this as well.
